Sorry, FIFY. Couldn't help it. A lot of built up scar tissue.

Wolfhound, were you in the Army? Thanks for your service

Still in the Army brother. Seven years enlisted. Over twenty-eight commissioned. Just under two years until retirement. It has been a great career.

That's awesome. It's hard to give you crap like the other LSU fans. My customer for work is actually USARMY, and I love just hanging out with both officers and enlisted alike.
Great people

Thanks my baw. Cannot believe it is coming to an end. I can honestly remember reporting to Fort Benning, Georgia in the summer of 1981 like it was yesterday. Tremendously blessed to have done what I love for as long as I have. Looking forward to what is next in life.

1981? I thought I felt old. I was THREE when you went to basic.

You've seen my DA photo. That's the same blues coat I bought in March of 2000. Now imagine about 2 additional inches of space on the neck at the collar and that's how skinny I was when I commissioned.

Impressive. Yeah, I recently lost twenty pounds (not kidding) from just taking better care of myself. Healthier eating, better work out routine. Was letting the stress of being a CoS and CXO flat out tear me up. Realized I needed to focus on life after retirement. Feeling much better now.
Still do not want to do the ACFT though

I actually prefer it to the current one just because of no situps (those screw up my lower back and lock my quads, diminishing my run score).
The new pushups, while a little more difficult, take pressure off your back.
The medicine ball toss is brutally simple, as is the deadlift if you have any core strength.
The sled drag is a little iffy, but with a little practice can be done.
The knee touch pullup though is what will get most people.
Fortunately, I will never take an ACFT for record, as I begin my terminal leave/PTDY right at the start of FY2021.

Been training for it. Think I will have no problems except for the SDC and the run. I broke a hip (hairline fracture) on Sicily DZ in 2001 just prior to deploying for SFOR 9. Did not realize it at the time. Since then I have had onset of arthritis in my hip that has gotten progressively worse. No running for me but now I guess I will have to pick it up again. No problems (the run is abysmally slow) so I should pass easily.

That must have been a hard fall if you broke something on Sicily.
The ones that wreck units, from my experience are Holland (trees everywhere) and Luzon (basically landing on concrete with things sticking out of the ground to ruin ankles).
Strangely though, I noticed that landings got a lot rougher with the T11 than with the T10, mainly because, while your descent is slowed, your lateral movement is not.

quote:MASS TAC, about 0200 in the morning, had already lowered my equipment, jumper came right under me and stole my air. Completely lost my prepare to land attitude. BAM. Right foot. arse. Head. Knocked me clean out. Was getting drug face down the drop zone (don't remember a bit of it). Woke up with our chief nurse on top of me trying to activate my canopy release (T-10 obviously) while others were trying to deflate my main. Did not realize how bad I had hurt myself. Jumped two days later (with a knee brace on - what an idiot) and really finished myself off (we were jumping forward prior to deployment). Got to Bosnia and thought I had a hip flexor injury from playing volleyball. Nope. Hairline fracture that had calcified badly by then. The end.

Did my PWAC on Holland. Agreed. Huge DZ. Saw a senior rated cadet participating in summer CLT break their hip near the tower during a night jump. Fricking stupid to be on status during CLT (not worth the risk IMHO). Hated Rhine-Luzon for the reasons you said. Lots of obstacles. Probably have no more than five jumps on that DZ (but I did get my Dutch and Australian wings there
).
