Somewhere 2015 or 2016 broke me and haven’t been all in since.

I remember exactly when I cracked. Halftime of the Ole Miss game in 2015. Drunk, angry, depressed, basically the exact opposite of my drunk feelings leaving the Arizona State game at NRG to start the season.

Realized I was not the drunk guy getting paid millions of dollars to care about it, Kevin Sumlin was the drunk guy getting paid millions to care about it. And the money bag boosters don't give a frick what I or any other pissant fan thinks, so why get worked up?

There are some other things that have dampened my enthusiasm for CFB in general, but different topic.

Same here. Between the Astros last year and knowing Sumlin was a lame duck I’m not sure I’ve given less of a shite about an A&M football season as 2017. But Jimbo has me back.

Yeah, last Fall ended up being amazingly enjoyable. First time in years I was actually watching Astros games with people at the bar instead of just bitching when the Ags played.

I’m cautiously optimistic, but I know better than to get too excited about this year. I always get emotionally invested in each season, even if I try not to.

It’s kind of like Charlie Brown, and Lucy telling me that this time she really won’t pull the football away.

I wouldn't say I get emotionally invested in sports at all, now that I am older. I did when I was younger, particularly when I was playing team sports, but it ultimately sunk in that I have no control over what is going on. So I don't let it bother me as much anymore.

I think Jimbo knows what he is doing. He didn't inherit a roster with enough talent to challenge for a conference title this year, in my estimation. But he has some nice pieces to work with. I am interested in seeing how he plays the hand he's been dealt this season. I like how he is going about constructing a roster.
