Frost hasn't done anything at a big school. When you take a risk on up and comers you pay a lower price. If it works out good for them. We'll see how it goes. I do think he will be very good.

My vibe is if we didn't have an admin that dropped to its knees to slobber all over Jimbo like a desperate loser paying for his prom date and actually let him know that we had options we could have gotten him for a better deal than we did.

Instead we went with a we want you at any price please just marry us and just locked ourselves into a 10 year fully guaranteed deal. Not only that, we have fools in here rationalizing that Jimbo doesn't have to win a national title to be considered a success!

Is it your money? Jimbo had a fully guaranteed contract at FSU. He sure the hell wasnt leaving for a non-guaranteed deal. When the numbers started to come out on how much the SEC network was going to pay out, how did y'all expect that money would get spent?

Scott Frost is a second year HC in the AAC. Fisher has won multiple P5 conference titles and a national title.

$2.5 million/year more seems appropriate

Unless Jimbo goes on to win a national title I will never NOT think that the way we went about this was idiotic.

Sorry not sorry.

He is getting four years no matter what. No. Matter. What. We are going to let him croot and bring in talent and see what results come. If it all falls apart after 4-6 years, we have already made the decision that we can afford the buyout. We have a plan to swing a 40 M buyout if it were absolutely necessary. This is not speculation or hearsay.

We made an investment and the brilliant part is it isn't costing us anything more than what Sumlin is about to cost us if we had to fire Jimbo....and look at the differences in abilities.

It is just a simple reality that for us to pull a top 5 coach away we had to show up with several bag men. Of the national championship coaches still active, Saban makes over 10M, Meyer makes 7M and is going to get more, and Dabo makes 6.25M and is due for another raise. The only one that makes less than 6 is Gus at 5M, and he has been on the verge of getting fired numerous times for a ton of reasons.

Harbaugh makes 9.25M and hasn't done shite. Franklin makes 7M and had a good season but hasn't done shite.

For us to pull Jimbo, it was going to have to be real national champion coach money. 7.5M is a bargain, but to show our commitment we had to show we were willing to make a long term commitment. 10 years. The term of the contract just isn't a concern for our administration. At the very least, Jimbo is going to achieve Sumlin's success and will recruit scores better. We gave Sumlin six years. Jimbo would get 4-6 even if he wasn't producing. We can afford that buyout and move on with our program to Chad Morris at that time if we so choose.

Jimbo wants two simple things that FSU refused to give him. I heard this directly from friends in the program and my coaching family members I've told some of you about.

1. He wants a program of his own that is as committed to winning as Alabama is with Saban. He wants the best facilities, the best and most extensive staff, and he wants full control over the entire thing....only reporting to an AD that HE trusts. Meaning if Woodward ever were to leave to LSU in 5 years, you can bet your arse Jimbo gets to weigh in on his replacement and may even have a separate memorandum of understanding on that specific issue.

2. He wants that commitment for LONG TERM. Meaning we had to show up with 7.5M for 10 years. Because we aren't spending 7.5 per year in 9 years and somehow letting the rest of our program's spending go by the wayside. Because we have made a long term commitment to paying Jimbo big money, we have made a long term commitment to spending big money on facilities, staff, etc. I guarantee you Jimbo has been given certain assurances, some of which are likely in his contract, on these exact points.

He wants to compete with Saban. He wants to have a dynasty. And he felt FSU could not do their part but he could. What actually started this process leading to him finally realizing it was time to break away was Richt getting fired at UGA. Then Kirby (an elite recruiter) got hired by UGA and Richt (an elite recruiter) got hired at Miami. Both of those guys are having a field day with Florida recruiting, and it suddenly made Jimbo's job more difficult. Jimbo's an elite recruiter that can take punches with those guys without blinking, but he MUST have the backing from the university athletic department to put his money where his mouth is. FSU simply wouldn't do it. They continually said they never had to make these kinds of promises to Bowden. They did 150M in building projects, but they failed to understand what programs like A&M FINALLY understand which is that his is a long term, every single year commitment. The. You add UF likely making a big hire, and you've got a situation where Jimbo is telling FSU alright guys it's time to put up or I'm out.

Jimbo does not just want to be a ten win guy. He wants a dynasty and believes our financial backing can get him there.

He is the same age as Saban when Saban went to Bama. He's learned from his past mistakes and has a vision of how to win.

More like 7 or 8 at minimum. We were balking at paying off Sumlin. Unless oil magically goes up to and stays at $100 (it wont) for the next 10 years we would balk at paying for Jimbo to go away too.

Also, $7.5m ain't my issue. 10 years fully guaranteed for a guy who just had a 5-6 record with a team full of 4-5 stars? Yea, that's a big fricking problem.

Then stop paying if you're so pissed. Go sit at home and brag to your family about how you're not paying 0.000001% of Jimbo's salary anymore. You're all talk.

If the entire team fell apart we have considered and believe we can afford a buyout in the range of 40M. That would mean Jimbo would get at a minimum 4-6 years.

Sure, when you do it the way we did you cant get a better deal.

Face it, we negotiated against ourselves on this.
