i can write a thesis on ben howland and psychoanalyze his tenure at UCLA and what changed. believe me, ive put a lot thought in this, but basically to keep that long story short i believe you can draw a definitive line between how he coached up until his third final four, and everything thats happened after that. and i have to say, buzz reminds me an awful lot of the first five years of howland at UCLA. i think we will start seeing more defenses like the ones he had this year than what he dealt with at the start of his VT career when he gets better talent in

I hope you're right. He's always been a good offensive coach, if he can start producing equally good defenses, he's going to have a lot of success.

So I will admit that I love lurking on forums of programs we frick over when we frick programs over. Only recently did I finally put down the crack pipe that was FSU forum butthurt from us stealing Jimbo. I read that Conference Realignment Is Not Ending thread on Shaggy for literally thousands of pages (easily the biggest waste of time in my entire life) over the course of years.
But today I lurked on VT forums and walked away with a high level of respect for their fanbase. They seem like good reasonable people.

I got that sense from Twitter as well. So many people saying he went to VT and accomplished everything he said he would. He never broke a promise to VT fans and is leaving in good terms.
It sucks we don't get another quality ACC fanbase melt, but it's awesome to get a coach that is well liked.
