I hope we come highly motivated every week then

I'll take 2 out of 3 every weekend if that's the case it was nice to go beat up on LSU at their place too. Hate that we let yesterday slip away

Me too. If you look at the quotes from our players, it looked like this team just wants to play the SEC schedule. Need to be more consistent.

I think this may be a Regional team, but we will see. We were fortunate with LSU committing so many errors this weekend. It was a promising weekend

What comes out of a Chinaman's arse?

PITCHING MATCHUP
• TUESDAY: #30 Khristian Curtis (Fr., RHP, 2-0, 0.98) vs. #27 Thomas Burbank (So., LHP, 0-2, 7.71)

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Owls have stumbled out of the gate with a 6-15 start under first-year head coach Jose Cruz Jr. Rice has played better as of late, winning three of their last five, including midweek wins against SFA (19-3) and Sam Houston (13-5) and a series-opening victory over UAB (8-7) before losing to two games to the Blazers (10-6 & 9-8).

frick em

They were the bane of our existence in the 2000s like TCU was in the 2010s.

But now frick us. Just turned it on and our starter is injured. Curtis was a potential arm to move into the weekend this year.

Here is where we stand:

13-7 (2-1)
RPI 71
ELO 68
SOS 80
Quadrant Record - RPI
Q1 1-2
Q2 4-3
Q3 1-2
Q4 7-0

We have 7 more OOC games remaining - all mid-week. Its a pretty decent slate too.
#3 tu
#21 Tx St
A&M CC
DBU
Sam
UTA
IW

I think the most likely best case is 5-2. That would put us at 16-8 OOC. We'll likely need to go close to .500 in conference to solidify a regional spot. That would mean 30-24 or 31-23 going into Hoover. Normally, 13-17 would be enough but we sucked so bad in OOC I don't think it will.

Here are the remaining conference games
Auburn
@ Bama
Kentucky
@ #14 Georgia
#4 Arkansas
@ #1 Vandy
South Carolina
@ #2 Ole Miss

We really need to win the next 3 series. If we can build up ~8-9 wins before Georgia then we have a real shot at meeting the ~.500 goal. We'd basically just need to avoid sweeps and win 1 more conference series.

It still seems like a very tall task, but winning 3/4 on the road with an offense showing a pulse gives me some hope.

When did Rice become such a trash program? That was the marquee OOC game every year when I was in school.

As Graham really aged things slid downhill and the last hire was a bust. If he had retired earlier Pierce (current Texas coach) would have been the replacement and kept things rolling but that old a-hole hung on too long.

The potential remains for them to be really good because of the location/private school status but the longer the success fades the less the alums will give a shite IMO

NIL probably hurts them too. Some big state schools could close the distance with the academic schollies.

Yeah it won’t help. Still think there’s plenty of talent to go around in Texas if you have the right staff in place, and a Rice education will always be attractive to upper middle class kids from the Houston burbs, which is was their bread and butter when they were winning

Rice isn’t like other schools though, and the longer the success is in the rear view I’m not sure how much urgency there will be from that alumni base to revive the program. It’s pretty crucial they hit on one of these next few hires
