We all know it looks a lot better than last season, but consider with Mel Tucker -> Sparty:

5 HCs first year on job: Colorado, Fresno, Ark, Ole Miss, Miss State
3 Legit on hot seat: Boom, Gus, D Mason
2 body bags: UNT,Abilene Christian

And two on solid footing in Saban and O.

Has to be at least a 10 win regular season.

I'd say 9-3 is the most likely. I think our defense will be really good, but I think we have a lot of questions on offense. Like QB & OL. If we aren't better at QB and OL we won't beat anybody good. I actually think we will be fine at RB unless we have a big injury.

Hoping for more of course.

Mond needs to get his shite together. What's the issue with the OL?

Issue with the OL is talent. Slowly improving that, but the most experienced players right now are the least talented. Should be a bit better this year, but I would expect the OL 2021 and beyond to take a major step forward.

Mond's improvement is important as well, but if we get last years OL play, we will be in trouble on offense no matter what.

9-3 would be really disappointing imo. Auburn lost a lot, LSU even more. If Jimbo doesn’t get out of the middle of the pack this season with all the returning experience, when??

In all honesty I'd be disappointed at 9-3. But we came a lot close to getting beat by Ole Miss and Arkansas last year than we did beating Bama and LSU. Trying to keep my expectations in line with reality. But after an off season of sunshine pumping articles about how great we look, I'm sure I'll feel like 11-1 makes sense by August.

9-3 doesn't mean burn it all down and fire Jimbo, but it is a gut punch for sure. I guess if we went on to win a NY6 bowl then it'd be fine. 10-3 would probably put us around 8-15 in the final poll.

I’m probably setting myself up for disappointment but anything less than 10 regular season wins will be pretty upsetting. I think the schedule sets up too nicely. Just my opinion

I agree. If the team plays consistently well, then they could be undefeated heading into the last two weeks agains Bama and LSU.

My BAS won’t let me believe it though.

Never have been one to look at anything other than a conference championship record as a success. It just happens that in the SEC a conference championship has meant CFP since the inception of the CFP.

This is the springboard year for Jimbo from bowl winner to contender. With a milquetoast QB, a big fat question mark at RB, a weak OL that was recruited to screen a spread offense, what could possibly go wrong? Everything. Those TE's are the key to shoring up the OL on running plays & catching the ball from the end or halfback positions. Wydermyer & Cupp have a lot of promise. Time will see if it provide dividends. The wildcard playmaker? Demond Demas. Ridiculously talented playmaker.

The defense should be better. I suspect a turn back to the west coast offense from Bama & LSU which would not bode well for what we've got. AU is a one trick pony that Elko should already have sorted out.

Keep the faith. Jimbo knows exactly what he's doing. Not sure if he has all the dudes in place to make it happen but he's getting close.

Don't take these wins for granted. There are some pretty good new coaches in the SEC west this year. They are not going to give it away. Aggies better be ready to fight for it or disappointment could ensue. Look back at wins against lowly Arkansas. Have we dominated them in our wins?

I don’t have championship aspirations for this year but I will say, I’d like to be sniffing a NY6 bowl come November. Again, probably setting myself up for disappointment but those are my personal expectations for this upcoming year.

We’re likely to be 10-2 as our ceiling, with a probable 9-3. Mond is going to crater against a middling team sometime this season. Probably more than once.

I’ll revise after our first couple games, because lots of things change in the off season.

Yes. NY6 Bowl should be the goal, and can be achieved this year. So whatever win/loss record this requires.

I wanted to dust this off so we can look at the predictions from last year. Though the schedule has changed the optimism was pretty high concerning the number of wins and especially against opponents like Miss State. But the Aggies better step it up because as I thought last year none of these teams who got new coaches are going to roll over without fighting. And from what I hear on the radio the Aggies are playing pretty mistake prone football against the Vanderbilt. This should not be another growth year for Mond. He should be grown.

We might lose to Arky this year. Good thing there are no win requirements for bowls! See y'all at the Liberty vs TCU!
