Not a big fan of Childress.

Watching him I can't help but think he should be a sinker slider guy and instead he's a fastball curve guy. Effective today so far but I'll be a little surprised if he's our Sunday guy all year.

His curveball is rated fairly well. It looked good today. It’s hard to judge this early vs this competition.

Oh I agree. It's one game and I don't want to make too much of it. But his stuff seems incongruent and he didn't attempt to work in to righties at all. Fordham helped him out tremendously by failing to recognize or lay off the high fastball.

His repertoire is also conducive to throwing a lot of pitches and that's not a great fit for a Sunday guy. He threw 68 pitches in 4.2 today without so much as a walk (and only 3 Ks).

I didn’t get to catch the game tonight (saw highlights), but we improve to 4-0 with a 5-3 win over SFA.

I’m not m one to overreact like some on here. In baseball a few innings or even a full game is a tiny sample size. That said, I’m worried AF that PVA&M has held us to 1* hit thru in the 4th.

It's early but I don't think we have much hitting this year. Just looks a lot more like last year than 2016 or something.

Don’t know if we will ever have an offense again like we did in 2016. In fairness, very few teams have ever had an offense that good.

Also for those who didn’t hear, MJ won’t be back. They replaced him with Boomer.

Nothing against Boomer, but I'm glad coach is back.

I’m glad he is. I read it somewhere. I don’t think I made it up. Boomer is nice in small doses. MJ is better overall.

UIC is up there swinging. I like it.

No kidding. I think I'd be okay with them checking stuff if they didn't take forever but as is I HATE instant replay

This is fricking horrible reviewing a ball down the line that the ump was in perfect position for. FFS, if they can't make that call, just get rid of umpires in the field entirely.

I want their role to be much more limited. Let a machine call balls and strikes. Let’s a machine decide if it lands fair or foul. They can call playsbat bases until the technology is there.

20K for Dox on the season this far. That’s got to be mean to top in the nation.
