Last summer at the opening he was measured at 6'3.5" 203 pounds. He ran a electronically timed 40 of 4.59 and has a 38.9" vert. He's listed at 6'4" 220. I would wager that is fairly accurate. He definitely fills a roll in a Chavis D.

yeah. chavis leans on sideline to sideline speed. he would be a perfect rover/monsterman type.

I wonder if Evans is done growing. Don't know his measurements, but based on practice photos, if he gets too much bigger he might find himself at linebacker. Wonder if he has gotten bigger since he showed up.

thats a good question, chavis has been known to put players in position to maximize their talent (tyrann matheiu) and he did some nice things with jamal adams last year.
i know he likes a fast defense over size. could very well see some safeties playing awfully close to the los this year. not like you dont have the depth to play around with it.
i think what will make chavis successful this year is depth on the dline and badass DEs that he likes to lean on.
if you notice, he plays more penetration at DT when he has a baller at mlb, like minter, plays dbs closer to the los when he has a playmaker like adams or matheiu.
he doesnt play the same defense every year. i think this past year at lsu beckwith didnt come along as fast as he wouldve liked and too much youth and no real depth along the dline. couldnt take pressure off the mlb or the DEs. welter wouldve done a lot better if he had better DTs in front of him.
you guys will need excellent play at DT to make his defense work. really need two guys along that dline to draw attention from more than one blocker all the time.

Just watched that Christensen interview posted on previous page. Sounds like he's taking a wait and see approach to Left Guard.
From these practice reports, it seems like our Defensive Ends are coming in hard off the edges. Faced with that, I can see why they would mix in Murray on the zone read play.
But that doesn't necessarily mean we would rely alot on this if Murray is in the game. Just might be something they want available in the toolbox should the situation present itself at some point.

Something odd is going on this Fall, or at least over the last several days. Lots of major contributers havent been practicing recently peaking today with Garrett, Noil, Alaka, Hall, Matthews, White and others either being held out or not to be seen at practice. Sumlin refuses to led the media even mention the names of those missing let alone discuss injuries, and Texags has been deleting at least a thread an hour on the issue the last 48 hours.
It's just...strange

I'm fine running Murray. I think we'll all be blown away by how fast he looks out there. I was in shock seeing Johnny move like he did, and I expect Kyler to be even shiftier. And quicker.
Agree that he will need to be a threat throwing the ball for his running to be at full effect, but remember that by year 2, Johnny was running quite a few qb sweeps and counters. I think Kyler has that same potential.

It's just so weird, and what little mods say on the topic almost comes across as early attempts to let people down easy.

Interested to see how he uses myles. Not sure he's had a guy like him before. Hopefully daylon can be the second pass rusher. Or I think it's texags that has been pimping Alonzo Williams like he's supposed to be a stud, maybe he's the second guy.

Let people down as in there's the possibility the players listed won't play against ASU?

I have no idea, it's the weirdest thing I can ever recall from an A&M fall camp.

myles is gonna draw double, but the more disruption you can get from the other 3 guys will make chavis' defense run smooth.
mg is a very rare athlete, i dont remember anyone like him for lsu.
if he can get both DEs playing at a high level, thats always a nightmare. a&m should be able to have great DT play because of yalls DEs (hopefully that works both ways) at the least and shouldnt have a problem with depth at DT like yall have had recently.

Can't wait for the Black Friday news dump where we find out that half our defense is suspended for ASU due to "violations of team rules"

I've gone Full Kool Aid.
I'm expecting special things this year. I will be either giddy or living in the sixth level of Hell.

Well, there goes this season. As usual, "maybe next year!"
