I agree in this instance. Reed had jumped and the Alabama player had committed.
It’s not a dirty play by the defender at all but it’s clearly a penalty as written.

Like I get that you can say a small bit of his crown hit his face mask as the qb came back to the ground but I think in situations like that you need to have a non disqualified targeting.
