it won't be any more games than now for most teams.
If you are a top 4 seed and played in conference championship game right now, to win it all you would play 16 games.
12 regular season, 1 conf champ, 3 playoff games.
With 24 teams, there will not be a conf champ game so:
12 regular season games, and then 4 playoff games. So still 16 total.
If you are a lower seed and make the finals you could be higher, but it could be higher now if you lose a conf champ game and are a 5-12 seed currently.
If you are a top 4 seed and played in conference championship game right now, to win it all you would play 16 games.

It’s not just the playoff. It is 10 power conference games. That is a 25% increase from last year.

I don't understand why the cfp committee is dead set on not using exponentials of 2. We don't need more postseason weeks and adding the postseason bye week is the reason there won't be conference championships any more.

Not that I agree with the playoff but high school state champions play 14 games minimum usually 15. Most without a bi week at all.

You could make the argument that the teams that matter (the top 8) will have the same number of games and reduce their schedule by their toughest game (conference championship).
The top 8 are going to get a bye (and deserve it), and none of those 8 will have had to play in their conference championship game (most of which the top 8 do).
