Kevin Cosner was at Fred’s last night coming to enjoy the view at Mecca of college.

I kept going up to him and shaking his hand saying “Kevin, STTD!!!”
He was loving it and gave it a chuckle.

Hadn’t been to Fred’s in probably 10-15 years but glad I made the drive over

Didn't he play College ball for Augie Garrido while at Cal State Fullerton? I'll have to look that up.

EDIT,
quote:

Kevin Costner did not play college baseball at his alma mater, Cal State Fullerton (CSUF). Although he played baseball in high school at Villa Park High School, he was cut from the CSUF Titans team by legendary coach Augie Garrido during his freshman year. Costner admitted he "just wasn't that good" and never made the roster, though he later took a baseball class taught by Garrido and graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1978.

It all makes sense now.

I swear a couple of the people had gills behind their ears the last time I was in BR.

Saw him just last night in Silverado. Damn he was young. I remember seeing that in the theater way back when.

His great-great Grandfather and mine were in the same Regiment and Company during the Civil War so I'm sure they knew each other and quite possibly very well. The Regiment was the 42ndMS and their first battle was at Gettysburg, they fought on the first and third day of the battle.

More history on Costner...

His family moved to the Oklahoma panhandle in the early part of the 20th century... Kevin's part of the family moved to California in the 30's and 40's during the hard times. Some of the rest of the family stayed in Guymon, OK and ran Costner's grocery store for decades.

John Andrew Jackson Costner is the guy in the 42nd Miss... His son Moses Costner was the guy who ended up in the Oklahoma panhandle.
