He will be just another LB until they need him to come in and Blitz. Then everyone will know why he is in there. That isn't going to help him plays. Thats as close to a wasted FR year as you can get. He can easily be the backup Star at Auburn and get more snaps.

This. When he's sacking/picking off Coker in November the realization will set in though. At most he's a third down player his first year at Bama, he's really better off at AU.

So being a backup "Safety" is better than being a situational pass rusher?

I'm not saying Evans will choose Alabama but if your serious about him being a backup at Auburn then your coaching staff's whole pitch is irrelevant.

If Rashaan comes to Auburn he will be a focal point at star and he will be used to rush the passer among other things.

Nah, he will be used more of a LB hybrid rather than a hybrid DB as it was last year. The kid will get plenty of action and be a factor on the field. Not everyone needs to be a Bama LB to make it to the NFL.

His size allows him to play a different style of Star than RT does. He would likely be the backup and play if RT got hurt and also play in situations where his style would be a better fit. He's more of a LB while RT is more of a DB.

I am pretty sure the coaches didn't tell him he would be the starter after the way RT played this year. He would know they were lying to start with.

Here is what the Auburn coaches have told the Evan's.

quote:

“I think the main thing is them saying that Rashaan would definitely be the guy. If he decides to come to Auburn, he would be the guy that they would want to build their future defense around. They said that he would be the guy, that he would be the chosen one that they could build that defense around and make him a part of that Star position. They’ve only opened up so much of their defense because of the fact that they haven’t been able to utilize blitzing from the Star position. They said if they had a dynamic player like Rashaan that has his athleticism and size and could rush from that Star position, it would open up a different world for them on that defense.”

I swear that some people have never looked at an NFL roster. Does Seattle's defense even have an SEC player on it?

I don't think he would be starting day one, unless he came in and showed out or RT got hurt, but our Defense is built around the Star position. Either way it is a lot more playing time than a situational blitzer.

Never said he is starting day 1. That doesn't say he is starting day 1.

Agreed, but the converse is true (every Bama LB makes it to the NFL).

In fact, 2 more NC winning Bama players are on it, and now have Super Bowl rings.

Go to Bama, win multiple NC's, and then Super Bowls.

I think that just means that they want him to play the linebacker hybrid Star spot rather than as more of a dime package like we ran last year. He has a unique skill set that could/would open up that spot to help lock down the run more than we were able to this year.

Yes of course that is what they mean.

This would be a hell of a recruiting tool if it were really true, but it is not.

The only player on the Seahawks' Defense is Jesse Williams and he didn't even play. So yeah, if they want to ride the bench and just collect a ring sure. It depends on whether he wants to play or just be on a team.

Hhmmmmm isn't that interesting

Yet I was bashed for saying he'd be a day 1 starter at AU

If he picks Auburn he will be a day 1 starter and Therezie goes back to S

Does AU have anyone on Seattle's team? On either defense? Any playing time tonight?
