No, because you know your place in the football world. Which is why you should be surprised you frickwads are landing big time recruits - and not just that - but "stealing them" from big name schools with national prominence.

I got a hundo that says you got one of these on your wall

Well obviously it is if there are players who are actively choosing to go to Ole Miss over Alabama.

What does that have to do with the level the two programs are on right now?

I'm glad you asked!

The OP's argument was that there isn't a logical reason for players to choose Ole Miss over Alabama. He used the current state of the two programs as one of the cornerstones of his argument. I pointed out that such a factor, while not insignificant at all, is not itself reason enough to think certain players will (or should) commit to Alabama, as evidenced by several players who chose not to.

Fair point, but a few guys wanting to be a big fish in a really small pond amounting to the quality of the two programs is what I was laughing at.

When I said the quality of the two programs currently is debatable (with the emoticons for sarcasm).

I don't think any Ole Miss fan would doubt that Alabama is in a better position right now than Ole Miss, which is why y'all are going to have another top-5 recruiting class. But for someone to argue that it is literally illogical for a recruit to choose to play at Ole Miss is just flat-out stupid.

Recruits are going to commit to wherever they commit to for whatever reasons they have. Those reasons could be the chance to win, the opportunity to be with or near family, their own inclinations as football fans, OLD PI$$ WEBEL MONEY, or really anything they want. We as fans can't just sit here and presume to know what's best for them, especially given our biases.

The same goes for Ole Miss fans, who think that things like The Grove and The Square should be luring recruits to Oxford. As if high school football recruits are actually upper-middle class white women in their mid-40's who just looooooooove to decorate, y'all.

You're giving him WAY too much credit. I can assure you that he has one of these however:

I am confused as why a UA fan would melt over a commit to Ole Miss who may reconfirm his commitment to Ole Miss. I guess I could understand is he was committed to UA and flipped.

Let me clarify though in case I have missed something here. CJ Ole Miss recruit, Hootie not committed to anyone, Bo current UA commit who had to leave the state to go to a HS to qualify and one that does not require an exit exam to get a diploma and still has been reported all fall he still may not get qualified. So I am not sure why any UA fan would melt over them. Bo maybe but most have been expecting not to be in the class especially if you go with what any of our sites have said since he transferred.

I think we have some UA fans that need to take a step back off the ledge, take their meds, and enjoy the holidays with their families and post after the new year starts.

Good luck to Hampton wherever he ends up.

I've been frequenting the boards much less over the past week or so but with threads like this and the Trey Quinn one it's impossible to stay away.

I guess I missed something because I did not know he officially decommitted. I just read he reaffirmed his commitment to Ole Miss.

So basically what you are saying is that Ole Miss felt left out when no national recruiting attention was coming your way and he needed to do this to get Ole Miss some headlines. I see but maybe your staff or insiders should have clued you guys all in to so all the ones worried the past several months would not of.

but you know what if helps out your program grats and good luck to him.
