Don't think so. Sounds like he just didn't want to stay in Louisiana

Some congratulatory LSU fans.... some angry LSU fans

I am friends with a guy that's on the Destrehan staff and he said LSU wasn't really a real contender. He went on a visit to LSU and didn't feel "wanted" enough and was turned off by LSU from then on. I thought State was the front runner for Emery. Georgia snagged him from State more than LSU.

Congrats, sincerely...but I wouldn't go blowing each other until that LOI is signed.
Speaking from experience.
Getting commits are easy. Keeping commits is the hard part.

Lsu will settle for a 3* rb.
Tyrion Davis is legit. LSU will turn their attentions (I think) to Noah Cain. You get those two and you'll have two really good running backs.

This can't be right. LSU fans told us he was a lock.

Emery was NEVER a LSU lock, but keep telling yourself that.

We didn't tell ourselves that

That's easy for you to say

Tyrion Davis is very underrated. If LSU lands him and Cain, then in my opinion they will be signing one of the three best backs in the class and Noah Cain.

I agree. When I heard we were trying to flip him, I took a look at his film. I was very impressed. He runs hard and seems to have a lot of speed. I was getting really excited about possibly flipping him.
But, I really, really do like Emery, too. I have since the first part of this year.

Mullen is struggling. I understand your frustration. maybe he can get it turned around for you guys.

I agree. His floor at Florida is still higher than what he was doing at State. He might not recruit at an elite level, but he'll recruit better than he did at MSU and he'll get better results being in the east.

No doubt. he'll be fine if they give him time.
BTW. wanted to thank you once again for being classy about the Emery commit. Couldn't have been easy.

Congratulations to UGA on the verbal commitment . He’s clearly not feeling LSU.
Every year there is one, like clockwork- he wants to get out of state ( could be any state) , “ commits “ to numerous out of state schools , disses the hometown school for a year , and then signs with the hometown school on signing day. I’ll hope that’s the case here because this kid is slippery as hell to tackle or catch. Wherever he goes , he will ball out.

It's always possible, but with Davis and possibly Cain...would you take three? I suspect if you guys get Cain committed, you will end up telling him his chance is gone. Maybe you want three backs, though?

I am on record as saying we take the first commitment ( Emery or Cain ) who commits. That's the way this new early signing period works. You better get your spot if you want your spot. Because the elite programs are going to fill the spot one way or the other. That said, Emery would be a take for any program in America based strictly on talent. He's elite and he's versatile. If LSU gets firm commitments from Davis and Cain I'm thinking their focus shifts to more pressing needs than rb. Specifically, a DE or OT.
I'm not flaming in any way when I say I'd still be surprised if he ended up at UGA. That's just this kid's style. He falls in love. The only school he's consistently publicly shown little or no love for is LSU. I mean, he could end up wherever he has a great weekend. And look-I'm not criticizing him for it either, it's his prerogative.

For Emery to flip from UGA to LSU, two things would have to both happen.
1: UGA’s incoming freshmen RB’s White and Cook would have to finish 1a and 1b I n the Heisman voting, assuring Emery a spot on the bench...
And
2: LSU would have to prove they are on the way up with important wins over 2/3 Auburn, Bama, UGA.
It could happen.

Flipping is always possible with any kid and even more likely with out of state kids because everyone in their circle will be trying to push him a certain way. However, getting the family to fall in love and approve the decision is key and it sounds like we did that so I’m hoping he sticks. My favorite recruit last year was James Cooks and one of my faves this year is Emery. Would hate to lose him.
