A&M will have to get in line behind these schools, in this order:

1. Georgia
2. Auburn
3. South Carolina
4. Clemson
5. Florida State
6. Florida
7. Alabama
8. Tennessee
9. Ole Miss

All of the above (Ole Miss just recently) aggressively, and successfully, raid the state for top talent. And this list does not include powerhouse programs from outside the SouthEast that will drop in and grab a highly rated recruit here and there (this list includes Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Stanford, among others).

The state of Georgia is ridiculously popular with recruiters.

So get in line A&M and best of luck to you.

The good news, though, is that you will instantly be ahead of Georgia Tech in the pecking order.

Imagine if UGA dominated in-state recruiting like they do recruiting North Carolina.

North Carolina has been very good to us.

Yeah, I almost put LSU on the list, but I just couldn't recall enough times when LSU came into the state, competed for a highly rated recruit that everyone else wanted, and got the signature.

But I could be mistaken. I often is.

Nah, most are either trolling other schools or pumping themselves up

I don't know much about Nkemdiche's pecking order because UGA was so far out of the running, but for some reason I wasn't aware that LSU was second for Carter. Thought it was Florida or some such.

But that's what makes recruiting so difficult in this state. So many top programs go balls to the wall to get the top recruits. It's a bit unreal, given the state's size.

Both of which invites a heavy degree of trolling, no?

I'd put UT a little higher on that list, but that's just me

You may be right. Heck, 10-15 years ago I'd put UTenn at #1, just ahead of Auburn and two spots (at least) ahead of Georgia.

That dropped off quite a bit but it's now coming back.

Stop it.

It works both ways. If Georgia wants to pull a rabbit out of a hat in the state of Texas, he'd better be a damn good magician.

Yeah. That's why we're not wasting the effort unless there's a real chance.

Case in point: Matthew Stafford.

But other than the rare shot at a real talent, there is no reason for us to waste our time in Texas.

That's kind of the point of my OP. A&M can probably better spend it's time elsewhere. HOWever, y'never know.
