For all the A&M idiots, I want you to overlay a map of the shape of Texas over the map of the state of Georgia, and see how many major programs fall with in the Texas borders.
Here's a hint. It will include at least UGA, GT, Auburn, Alabama, FSU, UF, Tennessee, Clemson, South Carolina, and Vandy. That's just SEC and ACC, and that shits on the total programs involved in the Texas area.
ETA: This doesn't even take into account that Texas players are softer than a down pillow, as the University of Texas has so clearly shown over the last 5 years.

Congrats on letting more programs raid your state than us

Look at a map and you'll figure out why more SEC programs recruit in Georgia.

All true. Kids near the borders are closer to many out of state schools than UGA (NW=UT, Augusta area=Clemson and Scar, South GA=FSU, AU and UF). The only true top programs TAMU and Texas have deal with coming into TX consistently are OU and LSU. Other schools like OSU and ND come in after big prospects, but really only the top, national-level recruits and not every good player. In GA, every player in the top 100-150 is being recruited by programs of OU and LSU magnitude, often including one of or both of those schools. Bama, UF, FSU, Miami, AU, Tenn, et al. all hit up GA over TX simply because it is closer if for no other reason. It is an easier sell to the families and recruits. They simply do not see nearly the competition for recruits in TX as we do in GA.
You don't even touch on how transient the state is. There is not nearly the loyalty one might expect to UGA in Metro Atlanta where the bulk of the state's population is.
I won't pretend that we don't need to do better, our last staff was some really poor recruiters and watching how Pruitt and Co are getting after it on the trail is really highlighting just how lazy or simply bad the old defensive staff really was at recruiting. Other than Chris Wilson who didn't even get a full year in here. The Ag is really blowing the amount of raiding going on though and ignoring the fact we are supplementing the guys we do lose with top players from surrounding states.

It's all true, sorry if you hold an incorrect opinion.
Honestly, using the last few classes to gauge the future success is probably not a very good idea. The staff now is drastically superior in recruiting to Grantham's staff. The past success will have little to no bearing on future success.
There is really no reason UGA shouldn't be pulling down top 7 classes nationally or better every year. Anything below that should not be considered acceptable.

The reason Georgia athletes get a lot of attention imo is because the proximity of many ACC and SEC schools in the same region make it alluring for recruits to play for a respectable program and still have that sense of not being out of place by being close to home. There's a lot of competition as a result because of that sales pitch alone.

Lol at this thread.
I rip on Richt as much as anyone for not dominating the state of Georgia in recruiting, but A&M fans looking real dumb right now.
UGA's competition for instate talent is insane. A&M's competition doesn't come close.
