NEWS: Things are "up in the air" right now with transfer DL Simeon Barrow and Miami, per
@mzenitz
and
@GabyUrrutia247
.

If Barrow and the Canes part ways, Missouri could be a team to watch for him.

This is in no way a shot at you, but if kids are rethinking things like this, how much tampering is going on?

Do we think this kid got to Miami, settled in and was like "ya know, I should have gone to Mizzou instead"?

You could insert any school for Mizzou and Miami

We know a lot about Miami via Baker and Drink is good at cutting through the bullshite and getting personal with people. Probably told him what it would be like at Miami, it turned out to be true, so he wants to go with the guy who told him the truth.

LSU is also letting him out of some kind of agreement.

There is undoubtably tons of tampering going on but all that really had to happen in this is case is this kid was unhappy at Miami and decided to go back to the school he had second to them and never got a DT in the spring portal.

This is the exact type of player you probably want to avoid in the portal. He's clearly all about the $$$

If I were to write this about a player Mizzou is losing it would be considered sour grapes. This kinda stuff is not good for CFB. Obviously if we get him I'll look forward to him helping but it's not good.

can you imagine a highly sought after athlete seeking compensation for the value he'll bring to a team? imagine if college coaches acted like that

I was more saying you could put any two schools in on either end and it just seems like a lot of behind the scenes stuff is happening.

Substitute Mizzou and Miami for OSU and Bama about Caleb Downs. Was OSU tampering before he entered the portal?

DE Zion Young transferred from Michigan State to Mizzou it’s not a stretch to think Simeon Barrow flips to Mizzou.

This seems more of a Miami didn’t want to pay him after Spring practice issue. Miami signed 7 DL’s.

Mizzou has made no NIL offers to Barrow for 1 simple reason. LSU has the rights to him in the SEC. We can't do anything until LSU releases him. If his NIL agent violated that, he would risk being suspended by the SEC and no NIL agent is risking that for Mizzou.

LSU hold all the cards as far as the SEC goes. Everything else being reported is BS.

I hate that I'm saying this but I don't even care if we are tampering. Mizzou was on the short end of that stick from a ton of bluebloods for ever.

This isnt a shot at you because you're a OSU fan, but up until the last few years it was every non blue blood fan complaining about tampering, now its the big schools fans doing it too. It feels nice

this is the first i've ever heard of a possible transfer signing a non-compete clause. what would barrow's incentive have been to sign that?

Barrow actually signed with LSU before bolting to Miami. His signature binds him to LSU if he returned to the SEC. LSU has to release him before Mizzou could even offer. Rumor is that LSU will release him, but hasn't been done yet.

"If/when Barrow and Miami part ways, Missouri seems to be a team to watch as a possibility. He'd apparently signed an SEC agreement with LSU before committing to Miami that would've prevented him from going to any other SEC school, but it now sounds like LSU is going to let him out of that agreement."

My guess is he visited LSU and was impressed and signs on the spot. He visits Mizzou and decides he wants to play with his buddy Zion, but he can't because he signed with LSU.

So he goes to an ACC school, but ultimately wants to play with Zion at Mizzou. Makes sense, they've played well together at Michigan State and he only has 1 year to impress the NFL.

No. Miami has a group of billionaires bankrolling things outside of Ruiz. Barrow got word that LSU would let him out of that agreement so he can play at another SEC school and he wants to go to Mizzou with his friend. Miami also won't guarantee him a starting spot. Barrow signed with Miami and he's enrolled. If anything, he will owe Miami money.

LSU went pretty hard after Damonic Williams, I don't see why they shouldn't use their leverage to take another shot at Barrow.
