He’s set to move to Austin Sunday & and start class monday. Normally I’d actually agree with Ag, transfers should have restrictions. In Bru’s case, he was convinced to commit to USC last minute by coaches who made him promises, and they aren’t with the program. Not only that, the athletic department is in shambles and USC hasn’t held up their side of the bargain.

and texas was clearly tampering with him

If USC were to be vindictive and collaborate with Ohio State to file a lawsuit/grievance against Herman, would it go through?

Go ahead and round up that evidence pal. We'll all be waiting. USC fans aren't as pussy hurt as A&M fans are.

What's crazy is the if you visit USCw and A&M boards you will see that A&M is Taking this situation much more hardly than USCw. It's laughable.

That's cause people in California care about neither football nor justice.

He’s been at USC two weeks and hasn’t participated in any football as far as I’m aware. This won’t have nearly as big of an effect as someone like Fields getting a waiver would IMO.

This kid will never play a down of meaningful football.

He has been recruited by programs for almost 3 years, but chooses to sign with USC because of Kliff Kingsbury? He was their OC for 34 days. And now he wants to leave?

Yeah, this kid isn't a head case.

ETA: If Kingsbury was such a major part of his decision, why didn't he give Texas Tech a sniff when KK was their head coach?

The NCAA has to put their foot down on this, you open up a huge can of worms if you let this guy play immediately somewhere. It's free agency at that point.

On top of that, if I'm USC I'm blocking him from Texas since it's clear they tampered with an enrolled student.

That's because we know that if this waiver is approved they're going to try that same shite with DeMarvin Leal, who is enrolled and taking classes at A&M.

The thing about the coach in question -- that was the deal closer for getting McCoy there, he get hired about 3 weeks before the early signing day and that convinced Bru to sign there rather than Texas. A week later, Kingsbury takes another job...since, USC has made no moves to hire and has been in even more chaos. The recruit can totally feel like it was a "bait & switch". He was the top recruit in America and USC needed him bad...USC may have known Kliff was going to leave and they said don't announce anything until after we get these kids signed -- these player(s) could play it as a conspiracy...or a good lawyer could or make USC prove it wasn't.

whoever first posted this must have misread something and not understood that he was transferring to "the real UT" -- The University of Texas...not coondog U.

I don’t care why you are laughing but I would like to know why you think he will get a waiver. Because he won’t. Spare me the “I thought Cliff was gonna be my coach” reasoning. He will sit a year.

I remember when Roquan (Smith) committed to UCLA, only to have his position coach leave later that day for the Falcons. Thankfully he hadn’t signed yet, but it’s stuff like that which is so unbelievably shady in recruiting.

sounds like if USC releases McCoy from his LOI (no matter whether he's been in school 10 days or so)...he would more than more than likely get the waiver because USC (Lynn Swann, etc) are throwing themselves on the sword.

we'll just have to see how all this shakes out...this is an interesting time in the NCAA football for sure.

I would be very surprised if he gets a waiver this year. There would have to be proof that the kid was mislead by the coaches and or administration. It can’t just be that Cliff left so I don’t want to be here now.

Just an example, say the Floyd kid y'all just signed had a sudden change of heart because a coach left and wanted out immediately to go to USC, would you feel the same about that situation as you do McCoy? Would Texas release Floyd and be ok with him being eligible immediately? I highly doubt it.

If McCoy is granted a waiver then it will be the straw that broke the camel's back. Open free agency and may as well eliminate all recruiting rules and regulations because kids would never be locked in. Only the schools would be harmed. The NCAA has a chance here to hold itself together and reset the precedent. They need to do it with Fields as well. If they the NCAA doesn't make the right call here they will essentially be hurrying the end of their football affiliations.

I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t be ok with it. I remember last year, when Luke Ford signed with UGA, then his position coach left. If he would have wanted to transfer right away, I’d be ok with it because he was misled. Same thing goes if someone was upset when Chaney left this year.

But you can’t be participating in team activities beforehand. Otherwise, people who didn’t like how hard workouts were would feel free to transfer at any point.

Just my opinion obviously.

The trend has been towards more flexibility it seems. I thought the recent transfer rules were the straw that broke the camels back?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't going to tamper.
