Saint Dabo has done exactly this for every Clemson player that has entered the transfer portal.

Only thing is that this article appears to be written before today’s announcements about freezes and what not on staff due to the investigation and now that Hooker is transferring does that change anything with the high school QB angle?

Personally....I don't buy into a kid wanting to go to a school because his High School QB went there. But, I mean maybe he does. I can't imagine a kid making a decision based on that. But that's me.

That said, early on, I did hear a bit of scuttlebut that Tech could get in the mix. I'm not sure if ti was just people thinking that because it is near home, or if it was based on real intel. Have you heard anything?

And Dabo is 100% correct.

I think Porter mentioned this. But, in fairness, by opinion was stated when a poster said this:
They haven’t even pulled his financial aid, which is almost always done once a player enters the portal.

I'm pretty sure financial aid is not pulled "almost always" when a players enters the portal.
Aft Porter (and you) mentioned that Dabo had done it, I did remember him doing it at least once. I did not remember hm doing it every time, though. Not saying you are wrong. Just saying I don't remember it.

It's just not a good look to do it. I can somewhat understand Dabo doing it with Bowman who jumped ship so early though.

I'm pretty sure the rule does not enable schools to cancel ("pull") their financial aid for the current academic term in which they enter the portal, but it does allow them to cancel it for the next term.

If a student-athlete is receiving institutional financial aid based in any degree on athletics ability, that financial aid MAY be reduced or canceled during the period of award (e.g., during that year or term) only if the student-athlete:

Renders himself or herself ineligible for intercollegiate competition; or
• Misrepresents any information on an application, letter of intent or financial aid agreement; or
• Commits serious misconduct which warrants a substantial disciplinary penalty (the misconduct determination must be made by the university’s regular student disciplinary authority); or
Voluntarily quits the sport for personal reasons. In this case, the student-athlete’s financial aid may not be given to another student-athlete during the term in which the aid was reduced or canceled.

It looks like they can if he quit the team

What To Know About Division I Transfers (NCAA)
quote:

Student-athletes who leave their current school academically eligible may receive an athletics scholarship at the new school, regardless of whether they will be eligible to compete in their first year at the new school. Once a student-athlete informs a school of the intent to transfer, the school can cancel the student’s athletics scholarship at the conclusion of that term. The NCAA requires member schools to have a clearly communicated transfer policy that describes how exploring transfer options impacts access to services and benefits.

There's nothing wrong with schools canceling scholarships after the academic term in which players enter the transfer portal. By officially registering their desire to transfer, they officially withdrew from the team. The school should be able to move on and use that scholarship spot for a player who wants to be on their team.

I agree. I was under the impression they cut it immediately which was why I said it was a bad look.

Geoff Collins is definitely in contact with him and Jeff Sims and Jahmyr Gibbs both tweeted him when he entered the portal, but realistically GT has no shot. They are trying but insiders are confident our chances are squarely at zero. UGA is the common thought on our side.

I was wondering. Thanks for answering. Tech is picking up a lot of really good players. (Harris, for one?) It will take time to get it all turned around, but it would appear as if you guys are headed in the right direction.

Mike Farrell is now saying Gilbert is a lock to Florida. 2 days after saying he was a lock to Tennessee.

The dude is just an attention whore looking for clicks. He’s always wrong.

Realistically if you’re talking raising his stock for the NFL, Florida makes the most sense. Look at Pitts. Mullen will find a way to use him like the studs in the NFL are used in today’s game.

Possibly Georgia and Tennessee are no longer options if the rumors of impermissible contact are true.

That said, I wouldn't think any SEC school would be a "lock" until we know if the SEC is going to allow immediate playing time for intraconference transfers.
