[Hummer] There's a "good possibility" former Duke head coach David Cutcliffe joins Texas staff in an off-field capacity, a source tells @247Sports.

We all know it’s completely obvious they’re doing it for arch but that’s actually a solid hire for Texas.

I don't think this necessarily makes Texas the favorite

There is zero reason to think Texas isnt in the lead when the Manning's favorite coach ends up there.

because the Manning's haven't been in love with Texas during the recruitment process. I'm sure this improves their chances drastically, but will an off the field role make them a favorite overnight? You can't say that for certain. That's all I'm saying

Cutcliffe and Patterson in “off-the-field” roles. Sark is making some good hires.

Dont kid yourself, Texas has been right up there the whole time. A hire like this just puts them ahead of the pack for the time being. Arch could certainly end up anywhere, but to think this doesnt move the needle a good bit is way underplaying the relationship that family has with Cutcliffe. The guy only directly coached both his uncles.

Don't kid yourself.

Texas is 3rd at best behind UGA and Bama right now.

Cutcliffe and Patterson are the training wheels on Sark. If Sark mucks this up he's an idiot.

Sarkisian didn't make any of those hires. Those are CDC and the boosters - dude should watch his back

Dawgs are highly confident with where they sit in the Arch Manning recruitment right now.

Lots can change but UGA odds on favorite today and Cutliffe isn’t the needle mover.

Cutcliffe and the Mannings are family. Don’t kid yourself. This moved the needle more than anything in his recruitment to date. If he were at anywhere other than Duke he would’ve committed to Cut long ago.

That would be a hard argument but it depends on Quinn Ewers.

Is Arch ok sitting s year?

I think when it's all said I'm done it's Georgia or Bama.

Maybe A&M, you literally can't count them out now. If I was an A&M booster I would say - we built the depth last class - let's go all in on arch and then just get like 4 - 5*s instead of 8

Calm down. Cutcliffe is close to the family but this isn't nail in coffin time.

Texas opens their wallets they could seal the deal but I wonder if A&M is more willing to pay now.

You think he starts year one anywhere else?

UGA has Stockton and BVG on the roster still in his Freshmen year and they will have the experience edge on him

Bama has Ty Simpson who already enrolled early

OM has Dart for another year

His best chance at starting year one is probably going in and competing against Simpson, a 5 star QB himself, at Bama. I don't think a guaranteed starting spot moves the needle, and I don't think the Mannings are the type of people who would want that anyway.

Dawgs are in the lead and Bama is second. Texas is in a distant 3rd, that's why they are throwing the Hail Mary with the Cutcliffe hire.
