I don’t think I’d say 6000 yards and 81 tds are terrible stats.

I just don’t understand how you get this :

He's just not that good at the things that matter like being a leader, and playing the game of football.

From stats and having friends in Louisiana but ok

Arch's Newman team won a state basketball championship yesterday. Funny enough they beat the team who has destroyed them in the football playoffs the last 2 years, LCA.

Newman beats LCA 56-47 in state basketball title game

How funny is it to win a state title in basketball and one of the biggest news places to write an article about it only mentioned an end of bench player (Arch) to get a few minutes, 1 foul and 1 turnover with 0 points in the game

That would be false.

Make no mistake. Gunner Stockton is very good. However, I do agree with you. Arch is probably better.

The backlash against Arch is rising to ridiculous levels. Is he overrated? Maybe. But people should be very careful with the hyperbole. To read this board you would think he should be a 3*. He is an excellent QB and is deserving of his 5* rating.

definitely not a 3-star

Very debatable. Fact is he just hasn't gotten any better since his freshman year. After his freshman year you understand where the 5-star hype came from, but there's been just no improvement since then on the field. If his last name wasn't what it is exist, he would be a low-mid 4-star QB right now based on his on-field performance. His passer ratings has been in the 140s (NCAA rating system) all 3 years of high school. The biggest issue most have an its a compeltely legit gripe is the lack of showing up in Newman's big games the last couple seasons. It's one thing to occasionaly struggle or put up a meh game, but there's been a handful of examples of flat out bad games from him recently, including the the very last game he played.

Again, go back to the #1 overall QB recruits in the past and find me a playoff game they played as junior/senior where they went something like 7/16, 43 yards, 1 pick and played the whole game. There's just no excuse for a performance like from a #1 overall play, none. The worst part is, this isnt it for him there, he's had a handful of dud games like this over the past 2 seasons.

I think Arch's talent/pedigree certainly prop him up a lot and a HUGE reason why so many schools want him as well. You still have to question the lack of stepping it up on the field which is why he simply shouldn't be the #1 overall player nor a 5-star. 5-star QBs just dont play like that on a multiple recurring basis.

Arch still has the senior year to go, but fact is, there's really no arguing he's living up to that ranking thus far and I'm not sure why some people are so quick to defend it.

I agree. I am just talking about how people on this board is taking about him.

quote:

Maybe maybe not. Nobody really knows. A QB's statistics can be impacted by so may factors. His Oline. Receivers. Plays called. Injuries. And it goes on and on. There are certain things that (as a whole) do not get impacted by these. Arm strength. Decision making. Check down ability. Leadership skills. Size. And more.

I think it is silly for people on a message board to state things based on a highlight film...whether pro or minus.

But we have people on here stating his stats are terrible. That simply isn't true. THAT can be stated with certainty. Some state that he is not very good at the things that matter. Source? Relatives in Louisiana and information the internet. (And we all know everything we read on the internet is true)

Don't misunderstand me. From what I have read, Georgia is in it for him. If we get him, I will be happy. If we miss I will still be happy as I think we are fine in the QB department. I just think it odd how people get on a message board and state things as fact when people who scout players for a living say otherwise. I mean, after all...I have some relatives in Louisiana (I was born in Baton Rouge) and I am sure they know more about football than professional scouts.

You're gonna love this. He got upgraded to a 1.0000 rating on 247 composite.

Also our on3 site decided to already make the prediction that he's coming to Texas. Doesn't mean much, just surprising to make the call so early. The guy seems to think that he'll make his decision by the end of summer.

They aren’t setting this kid up for success. Unless he have a Watson or Lawrence career he’ll have underachieved.

I wonder if the 247 people have a gag order on crystal balls for him because he is so hyped, and also apparently likely to wrap up his recruitment early (this summer I believe)? Drive up subs/milk the VIP content as much as they can until he commits. Wouldn't be shocked.

Thought the mannings would be smarter than that, but sounds like they’re just letting him make his own decision. Not really a shot, UGA just hasn’t really helped any QB’s draft stock
