Not sure if you meant this to ruffle some feathers...but, you aren't wrong. Auburn has been just fine when we are able to get 5 or 6 highly rated kids from AL/GA to be the core of a class. Then fill it out with some guys from FL which we had a pretty good line into with some of our better teams since 2000. Grab a few from MS, AR, SC, or VA.
This is the way to do it at a school like AU. We have never been a recruiting powerhouse like the Bama/UGA/LSU in the conference. But have been pretty succumbing a couple guys out of GA/FL and filling out what we can in state against Bama. It is what it is and I think Freeze understands what it's going to take to start competing for SEC titles again. And that's where you have to start.

Bro no athletic department can keep a guy after he used the company phone in the way that he did. Lol With that being said the folks who are taking this crazy moral high ground AFTER his wife and daughters have forgiven him is nuts to me. When we hired potato man I said the best option was Freeze, but no one was allowed to touch him at the time. When you preach as much as Hugh it's only natural for people to come down hard on you when you fall, but I'm kinda amazed that people still actively take shots and throw hate his way more than 6 years later. I'm just glad our coach isn't a clown show for the first time since like Mid tenure Gus.

Pointing out the ultimate hypocrite never really stops being satisfying.
As for wife and daughter forgiving, well there may actually be some love involved with that decision, but there certainly is a whole lot of money involved; they are both better off when he is making top dollar. Same reason political wives always do the public forgiveness schtick.

Hindsight is 2020. The better option for AU was a year with Steele in ‘21, then hire Hugh before the ‘22 season…no Harsin buyout, no supposed coup, no 5 win season, probably keep Nix 1 more year, etc.
