And what you said is kinda stupid anyway. He dominated our camp and was a priority.

Yea we will take 4 kids that are position rank #1 or #2 in the nation the last 3 classes that dominated 4 and 5 star kids in pads. Not shorts and a helmet.
Jesus quit acting like a butthurt Auburn fan when someone explained why we didn't need him.

The frick?

Have you seen the LB/DE class Alabama is putting together?
We currently have two 5-stars and four 4-stars ranked in the Composite Top 155.
We lead for 5-star Sav'ell Smalls and borderline 5-star Reggie Grimes is a legacy.
We also seem to be heavily involved with Justin Flowe and Noah Sewell (assuming he doesn't sign with Oregon to play with his brother).
I know Georgia will finish with a great class again. But, no offense, your one LB commit didn't even play his Junior season due to injury.

Everyone seems to be quoting the back half of that comment and leaving out this...
A) It's not his opinion just something he's repeating
B) It was passive approval of validity at best
Not agreeing with his position, but if you're going to criticize a post, at least do it in the full context of the comment. You're better than that.
Back on track here, how many LBs is Bama taking this class? There's a very good chance we only take 2, maybe 3 in total... I'm quite confident that Bama will finish with a deeper LB class than us this year.
That makes two of us... I think the plan for UGA is to try and land one of them, if they can land both (highly unlikely) then the'd take the spot from another position.

Thank you Fib.
As far as I can tell, we're taking 3 LB, period. One ILB and 2 OLB (one of which is Sherman). We seem to be in great shape with Flowe (and Bama seems to feel the same), and I honestly don't know who is the other OLB we would take (maybe Walker, maybe someone else).
I fully expect Bama takes more LBs that we do this class. We loaded up last year and don't have many seniors at that position. As you correctly pointed out, it seems odd that we were never involved for a Top 100 LB recruit in our backyard. I threw out a possible reason for this based on a person I know who knows a lot about the inner workings of our recruiting because his son is a major recruit.

Bama is supposedly in the lead for Smalls from Wash - but no lock. If Bama were to stop now, they have their best LB class under Saban on paper with 2 5 stars and 5 in the top 91. Anderson is the lowest rated and he looks like an upscale Tim Williams - the Bama coaches love him. But who knows how anything will turn out.

fricking great. You guys get yet another badass lineman.

We both evaluated him the same in that there are higher rated players on both boards. UGA is in better with its higher rated guys than Bama is with its higher rated guys.
I can assure you that not even 5* Braswell (committed), 5* Drew Sanders (committed), or 5* and national top 5 recruit Sav'ell Smalls (not committed, but Bama is in the thick of it for and may be he leader) are higher on the Bama staff's board board *AT THIS MOMENT* than Anderson. His Junior highlight film is awesome, and he completely put on a show at camp. Saban's camps are notorious for having guys that are very good prospects actually raise their stock to become elite. Amari Cooper, Jaylen Waddle, Ronnie Harrison, DJ Dale (this past year, but for some reason the recruiting gurus never noticed... dominated Bama's camp and is now set to start on the DL.. looks like the next Daron Payne) among others. Despite the fact that Bama signs guys usually rated at very high levels with lots of stars, Saban has his own evaluation system. I'm not saying Kirby and Dabo and others don't. But just because one guy is ranked #91 or whatever on the recruiting sites and the other guy is ranked #16 has nothing to do with where he's ranked in Saban's eyes.
There's one very prominent recruit that signed with UGa last year that Bama's staff and UGa's staff had a big difference of opinion on (for various reasons) that I'm interested to see how he does in college. George Pickens. Time will tell.

I was curious on this kid, we never offered or even seemed to recruit him to my knowledge. Seems odd for a top 10 guy in state (top 100 overall) at a position of need, but at this point I put nothing past our DL coach.
Yeah, me too. That's the school the Dean kid that went to Florida and started as a freshman in their secondary went to. I was hoping we would get in on both of those guys. My son went to that school a few years ago.

Do you honestly think Scott makes the final call on whether we offer a kid ranked this high in our own state?

The conversation happening here was about clarifying why the hell Georgia wasn't in the mix at all for a top 100 recruit nationally as far as I was concerned.
Its the perception that Bama "stole a recruit from UGA" which is not the case here.
With that said, grats Tide

This leads me to believe Tech did a hell of a job with their evaluation which is something I would like to stop happening immediately

That is not the perception nor was that implied in the thread. So it is not the case here.
If you would have read the whole thread even the commitment article said he picked UA over GT, LSU, and AU. The thread also implied that in the end it was a UA/GT battle for him. No where was it said that he picked UA over UGA or UGA was a school of interest.
A UGA poster asked the question or was curious why UGA never went after him. So the conversation continued more on the lines of why UA wanted him and why UGA did not.

Well he’s a 4 star and Top 100 player. And you debating he’s not from Georgia and Alabama didn’t go into said state to recruit him? Or are you debating he’s not a top player?

Reading comprehension seems to be an issue with you. Where does it say UA beat UGA out for a recruit or where does it say anywhere in the article UGA was involved in his recruitment?
Unless you are implying any top recruit in GA is a lock for UGA so for the article to imply one of the best instate went elsewhere gives the perception that UGA lost a recruit to UA.
If so a lot of insecurity demonstrated here.

UGA is not the only college football team in the state of Georgia. It was even pointed out that this was a Bama/GT battle.
