There's all of a sudden some confidence on the A&M side of landing him.

I've read several places on this site that Bama posters would rather miss on this QB and just skip this year's QB class. Any reason why? Is he over-valued on recruiting sites?

Lots of folks wanting to skip out on him. Big time project in many folk's opinions. LSU seems to be in on 4 guys to close out our class: Surtain, Chase, Goodrich and Foster, and hardly anyone would pick Foster with only 3 spots left (And no QB in our class currently).

He just looks like he needs a lot of development before he could play. He really looked terrible in the AL/MS all-star game. Personally not high on him myself, would rather just focus on taking 2 in 2019.

Consider Auburn and Alabama have never made any real push for him too.

I think A LOT of the sentiment stems from his laying an egg in the AL/MS All Star game back in December. Some say he showed out in the Elite 11 and in other camps.

That’d be awesome for him at A&M. That’d open up Gunnell.

Needs a lot of work. He's a guy that will need to sit for a few years. If allowed to develop, I think he could be a solid option down the road

I don't think we're looking to sign a QB that starts day 1, just depth at the position. Would foster redshirt?

If he doesn't redshirt and is having to start for your team next year, you're probably in for a down year. He's a project, but is athletic and could end up good in the right situation.

If someone leaves in the Spring then we want to avoid only having 2 scholarship QBs on the roster. That’s the only reason we sign a QB this class.

Yeah, he's not starting day 1 here. He's not going to beat out starkel. Are other schools selling him year 1 playing time?

Bama has 3 Scholarship QBs and the need for DL and CB is a must. Holding on to Brown and getting Smith are a must. Ross, Waddle and NPF would be window dressing. Don't get me wrong they're great players but when you lose six starting secondary players and you were already thin on DL especially inside you have to fill those needs.

It does seem like it right now, but I think it's at least partially because the best 2019 QB reclassified for 2018... I imagine that in about 3-4 months, there will be some guys that are finally getting evaluated that probably have been missed up until now. The guy that Georgia just offered (UF did as well) out in California had an incredible Junior year. Jayden Daniels?

To be honest, I feel like 2019 recruiting site evals are behind where they usually are at this point. Could be wrong, but just a feeling I get... 19 recruit info has been pretty sparse.

ETA: Part of me wonders if it's because of the Early signing period... typically around the December time-frame we used to see more commits/attention to the *next* year's recruiting class. Now, with Early and Second signing day, you've got a lot of that attention locked up in the current class.

It's early, and right now the only QB in it for us James Foster who I'd rather pass on. Think we can do better next year. Or take a transfer this offseason.

I think that Jayden Daniels kid looks pretty sick. He is '19 I think.

He decommitted from Mizzou, but I think that he has some work to do with his short to intermediate passes. He has a good long ball, but with a couple of years he could be a decent qb. He would be a nice get for TAM in the long run.

Nah he already said he doesn’t care if A&M signs a QB this cycle. He was completely fine when we went inhome and were recruiting Justin Fields.

Most of these croots think theyre the best no matter what, Gunnel included.

Doesn’t really fit Jimbos system either, and our returning QB fits his system perfectly and has 3 years of eligibility.

We also have Kellen Mond and then Connor Blumrick who redshirted.

If we took a QB this cycle then it would mostly be for depth and I doubt they’d ever see the field except for garbage time.

I agree completely. We need to go after gunnell like we are doing. I don't see foster contributing for us until maybe his Jr or Sr season, if at all.
