Except that Strong is no joke of a defensive coach. If he gets the Texas team onboard this fall, I guarantee you recruits will start listening to him. Sumlin seems to me to be a player's coach. Strong is a hard-arse.

A&M is the hot name in Texas right meow and it'll take a big turnaround to flip the perception especially with how much swag the SEC is about to produce with SECN.

Sumlin is one of those rare talents that somehow manages to be a hard arse AND a player's coach.

This is true but unless the Big 12-2+2-2 all of a sudden starts being really really good we can offer something he cannot.

Malik Jefferson, Sheffield, Kyler Murray are all not just possibilities but very strong A&M leans. Kris Boyd would commit if we would offer him. Christian Kirk, Guyton, Siverand, and TJ possibilities at WR..

I mean, seriously. 2015 could be the best A&M recruiting class in a long time

3 of the FAB 5 from East Texas... might just convince Malik to make the call - he thought hard about it this weekend.

Not saying this isn't the case, but he didn't come off as being entirely in control with the Manziel situation.

If you referring to me as tsip, you would be wrong. I have just been a very big fan of Strong since he was beating UGA's arse as UF's DC. He also took Louisville from the depths and turned them into a pretty damn good program for the talent they could get. Honestly, with as bad as TAMU's defense was last year, I am a little less impressed with Sumlin than I was.

I have no idea why people say that. Sumlin handled everything like a pro. Sumlin gives his players freedom and responsibility, but he works them damn hard and holds them accountable. If you don't want to work your arse off, Sumlin is not who you want to play for. Of course, he also tried to keep it fun. He pipes in music for practices. He celebrates with his players. He smiles and jokes. But he has incredible focus and discipline and he demands full effort. The guy is an incredible coach, and he's one of the reasons why we are going to be better next year than people think.

(And, yes, the defense sucked. It will not stay that way.)
