Atlanta (Ga.) Marist TE/DE Greg Taboada tells us Alabama extended an offer at camp today.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder has seen his recruitment take off, recently adding double digit offers from the likes of Arkansas, Florid State, UNC, Oregon, South Carolina, and Virginia just to name a few.

As long as LSU lands Tim Williams and Beckwith remains being set on playing LB, you can have Beckwith. He proved once again today at our camp that he is not a 4-3 LB. He's not fluid enough to drop and play in space. He's an attacker which means MLB or DE in a 4-3. If he wants to play LB then he fits better at Bama.

My question to you guys is this, with the LBs you guys have offered lately and overall, is Beckwith going to have a spot in January when he wants to commit? If Thomas, the McGee kid commit to go with Foster(if he sticks) and Allen, is there a LB spot left? You guys always make the numbers work but at some point, with the new signing limits, wiggle room has to shrink.

Thanks

Honestly, I dont know how the numbers can possibly fit. And whats crazy its like we are seeing a few new offers daily at the ongoing camp. I think more elite-type players will be turned away in February...

Kids in general do not need to be waiting very long. This class is filling up and as you correctly pointed out, there are limmitted spots at LB.

I think we only sign 1 more LB and Matthew Thomas has got to be at the top of that board... i'm thinking we have *maybe* 10 spots left. I would guess we sign:

1 DL
1/2 OL
1 LB
1 RB
2 WR
1 ATH
1 TE
2 DB

Honestly I think Beckwith is good but not the best guy left on our board...

We'll not be taking 2 wr. We might not take any if Foster doesn't come on board. So that's an extra spot or 2. I think we take 2 more linebackers.

For some reason, i think/hope we can add about 11 more commits.

DL - Big Rob
DL - D Walker
OL - L Brown
LB - M Thomas
RB - D Henry
WR - R Foster or M Williams
ATH - K Beckwith or S McGee
ATH - A Kamara
TE - J McNeil
DB - B Langley
DB - J Cook or M Smith

That would be ideal. Numbers are starting to become a factor in a hurry. A lot of good players are going to get sqeezed out of this class.

Go to hell 25 scholarship limit.

I think Foster out wide and Kamara in the slot is a possibility.

Cornerback Lamar Robbins visited Alabama for camp Monday and said he had a great experience, both performing at the camp and being coached by the Crimson Tide staff. Even as it was ending, the entire trip caught Robbins by surprise.

"I never even thought I'd ever go to 'Bama," Robbins said. "That never really was on my mind to visit them or anything like that."

The three-star prospect out of Miami Southridge High School said being able to attend a camp held by the defending BCS champions and learning from their coaches was a blessing. Robbins doesn't have an offer from Alabama yet, but he feels one is close. On a scale between one and 10, with 10 being an imminent offer, Robbins said he felt he was a 7.5.

"They were showing me a lot of love and the coaches were on me real hard," Robbins said. "Everyone knew who I was and that's probably a good thing."

Robbins said he spent most of his time at the camp working with Alabama coaches Nick Saban and Jeremy Pruitt. Saban impressed him the most with his frankness and persistence.

"He keeps it 100 percent real. He'll tell you what to do and how to do it," Robbins said. "He doesn't like to waste time and he likes to be on schedule. He likes everything to be sharp."

Robbins doesn't have a list compiled of his top schools yet and said he wants to get one together very soon because he has a lot of different offers. Conference affiliation will play a big part in his decision when he finally decides to make it.

"I don't want to go to a conference where I cannot compete at the highest level," Robbins said. "Somewhere I can really have a shot, somewhere I can stand out."

At 6-foot-3 and 188 pounds, Robbins has all the tools to play corner at the next level. Aside from his physical gifts, he is also oozing with confidence. He said he doesn't mind being second or third on the depth chart because he knows he will have his chance.

"If I don't play, it's going to be like, 'The kid behind him is really pushing him, step up his game,'" Robbins said. "If not, he's going to be on the bench and I am going to be in the game."

Robbins said the best parts of his game are his physicality at the line and speed. He said he can keep up with anyone in the country, and because of his size, leaping ability and experience playing wide receiver, he has great range. He said he still thinks he can improve with his technique in his coverage patterns and getting in and out of breaks. He said he plans to work on that after practice every day and also on days with no practice this offseason.

Robbins plans to make his decision after he makes a few official visits this fall. He has no plans to return to Tuscaloosa at this time, but that could change very quickly.

"If they offer, I'd probably take an official (visit) there," Robbins said.

6'3"... cant see him playing corner at that size. Sounds like a Safety at best...

ETA:
Checked out his Junior Highlight, I dont see him being able to press effectively, but if he is mostly in zone, then he would be serviceable.

He definitely plays the ball well, so I definitely see him being a better prospect at Safety or possibly WR (even though there wasnt much offensive footage provided).

Saban loves corners with size, if they have fluid hips.

Wasn't Dre measured at 6'3 out of high school? The measurement was probably a little generous with this guy too. I could see him at CB under Saban.

Ill say this about Cook he has great discipline. He doesnt bite on fakes at all and always plays his position but his film doesnt show you much honestly. I know I keep sayint this but him being in zone for 90 percent of the film probably doesnt help him any because coaches want to see if you can run with someone. Hell go and get Lamar Robbins or Rashard Robinson instead. JMO
