Yah didn't want to exactly say since I didn't know for sure but the only reason I posted was because rbr.com posted and sorry I was following a lead off twitter Mag, but he was texting friends and coaches last night. Alec Morris and Ely will see extensive action the 1st few weeks after Mich game likely to get a crash course in big boy college experience

Great. We are completely fricked now if McCarron has to miss a few games.

I suspect we'll see Blake Sims move back to QB again, as he has some practice time there. They have talked to him about it before, but didn't really need to act upon it yet.

Now they can, as they are down to 3 scholarship QBs with 1 true freshman and a very stable stable of RBs 1st through 4th string with another coming in...

Who's the QB you guys like most in this class?

ETA: And how do you feel about your chances?

Seems like Bama should be able to sell the whole "we have very little depth and you can compete immediately" schtick now.

Of the ones left uncommitted, I would like to get Bateman.

I'd have to agree, of those left on the table definitely Bateman. If not him, I don't think Riley Ferguson would be too bad.

I'd say it looks like this in tiers:

Brice Ramsey

Cooper Bateman

Conner Mitch
Mitch Trubisky
Austin Allen

Riley Ferguson

They are also starting to show interest in the likes of Anthony Jennings. Ramsey is highest and at the same time the most unattainable, but they still keep in constant contact. Mitch, Trusbisky, and Allen are on equal terms, and I know at least 2 have asked to come throw for Saban during the Summer. Ferguson seems like the stable fallback or the option if they take another QB, although they lost a QBs to Virginia and potentially Louisville with that line of thought.

Then they could always jump back in it for McCrary, although he was very adamant he wants to be the only QB in the class...

Alabama checked in at Mallard Creek High School (Charlotte, N.C.) to recruit four-star wide receiver Marquez North, the nation's third-ranked wide receiver and 24th overall prospect.

Three-star wide receiver Isaiah Jones, from Milton High School (Milton, Fla.), is visiting Alabama this weekend. Solid prospect at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds with great offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee. Check out his film.

Alabama stopped by Marietta to check in on 2013 dual-threat quarterback Anthony Jennings, and then saw three-star defensive tackle Jay Woods. Woods picked up a Georgia offer this week, and with the Bulldogs' 2013 class filling up quickly, I could see Woods pull the trigger for the 'Dawgs soon.

Earlier this week 2014 Georgia commitment Demarre Kitt picked up an offer from Alabama. He committed to the Bulldogs on April 14. Alabama likes to see recruits in camp before it offers, especially younger recruits. Kitt's friend and fellow 2014 commitment Nick Glass told me that UA assistant Chris Rumph will be by St. Pius (Atlanta) next week to visit.

Two other defensive backs Alabama visited this week are 2014 Knoxville, Tenn., safety Todd Kelly and 2013 safety Vonn Bell. Both are extremely high-character, high-IQ recruits, who would fit in perfectly in the Crimson Tide program.

On Wednesday, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart visited three-star defensive back Brendan Langley. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder has long been one of UA's top targets at the position. He also went by to see on 2013 Georgia commitment Tray Matthews.

Alabama assistant Lance Thompson made his way through Georgia this week stopping in Alpharetta to recruit three-star defensive lineman Naim Mustafaa and four-star wide receiver Carlos Burse. Burse is really high on Alabama, and wants an offer soon. Alabama wants to evaluate him in summer camp. Thompson also looked at Josh Dobbs, a 6-foot-3 under-the-radar quarterback.

On Monday, Thompson was at Lassister (Marietta) to see wide receiver Ryan Jenkins.

Also on Monday Alabama dropped by Jacksonville's Bishop Kenny to let Ahmad Fulwood know if anything happened with his UF commitment, the Tide would be there for him.

Alabama would like to add another tight end for the 2013 class to along with O.J. Howard. To that note, Alabama dropped by Harding Academy in Memphis to see 6-foot-6, 235-pounder Mack Weaver.

As I reported earlier this week, UA assistant Jeremy Pruitt is scheduled to drop by Madison County High School (Madison, Fla.) to recruit offensive guard Ira Denson. Since that report Denson has added offers from South Carolina and Florida State. UA also likes Denson's teammate, defensive back Shedrick Williams, who is also close to an offer from FSU.

Alabama visited Mortimer Jordan High School, home of 2014 quarterback Devlin Hodges.

I would take Bateman over Ramsey, seriously.

Yeah, Bateman is clearly better than Ramsey.

I expect us to pursue any decent Juco QB prospects that might emerge this fall too. I agree that Ramsey is very high on the board, I'm just not sure what it would take to flip him.

And I do expect us to try to get Ely as much pt as possible in the early cupcake games (after Michigan).

Bottomline: keeping AJ healthy will be priority #1 for the season and it's imperative that he returns for his senior year.

No, I said this morning that I expect B. Sims to move back to QB. But I don't think our staff rates him higher as a QB than Ely so I wouldn't expect him to jump Ely on the depth chart.
