I've always thought they had a bigger chance then most gave then credit for. He talks to Richt all the time too. With him extending it till January there is a lot of time for the home school to be in his ear.

That also leaves time for him to see LSU lose 4 DE's. Including two in the first round and possibly a DT in the early rounds as well.
he will play right away where ever he goes, but our DL production of late is a greater factor most are looking past.

You think two LSU defensive ends will go in the first round next year??
Posted on 4/21/12 at 1:14 pm to memphisplaya
We're gonna put 3 DL in the draft next year as well. Jesse could be a first rounder. He's going to blow the combine away.

So you don't think Montgomery and Mingo will likely go first round? Mingo may be small for a DE, but he is the perfect size for an NFL LB. A position he is not unfamiliar with.

I don't see it nor do I buy that he did 50 reps based on what Charles heard someone saw.

I think Jesse will be a top 20 pick.

You guys think Geno Smith could take spot in the 5 man secondary as a starter over Belue or Dixon?
No way. I'm a huge Geno fan, but him and Milliner situation is different. First off, Milliner started because of a lack of depth at CB. Also Milliner was more physically ready than Geno. He needs a few years in the weight room, and he'll be a good one.

After watching Mingo get stonewalled in the NC game, I started to think that LSU fans had prematurely annointed him an All-American talent. Nothing has happened since then to change my mind. He is vastly overrated by the LSU fanbase.
I'll give you Montgomery, but I don't think he goes top 15. Hell, just 3 months ago everyone on the Rant was proclaiming Michael Brockers to be a top 10 pick. Since then, he has dropped down to possibly not even going in the top 25.
Hold your horses brother.

Jesse, Square, and Dial will get drafted.

So one game negates about 8 sacks for the year?

He was named an AlL american by most publications.
LSU fans had nothing to do with it.

Ok. I think almost everyone disagrees.

He turned down first round money this year.

He still is likely.

Link? He's the top DT in the draft.

It's not me that needs to.

Brockers has been one of the hardest DT's to get a draft read on this year. I have seen him mocked anywhere from 6 to 45. A lot of scouts seem to picture him as really only fitting as a 5 technique in the 3-4. I also think the failure of Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey are unfairly being held against him. I like Brockers and I think he is much better than the overrated Fletcher Cox.IMO Brockers is the 2nd best DT in the draft behind Quentin Coples.
As far as Mingo and Montgomery, Montgomery will be drafted high, but he is a 1 trick pony. He rushes the passer very well, but is weak against the run. Mingo has never impressed me. I personally think he has always been overrated because he plays across from Montgomery and has very good DT's.

Fletcher Cox took over that spot a few weeks ago, he's been linked to the latter part of the top 10.
He has the resume AND the athleticism that Brockers supposedly had pre sombine. Still a 1st round pick, but like Dontari Poe, they have started sliding to the teens and twenties...

Link to All-American teams Mingo made?
They don't usually hand that out to someone who didn't make the first or second All-SEC team, a la Mingo.
Two games against Alabama, zero sacks. But he played lights out against Western Kentucky and Ole Miss.
No way Brockers goes top 10. Do a little mock draft searching and you'll find that out.
ETA: I've looked at 6 All-American teams in the last 10 minutes and not only did Mingo not make any of them, he didn't even show up in the Honorable Mention sections.
Like I said, Mingo's so called "greatness" resides in once place: The Tiger Rant.

So what you are saying is that Mingo should have come to Alabama to play Jack or SAM rather than going to LSSU?!?

is that against the rules? I've stated before that I thought Davenport and Woods both would have been better as 3-4 NG's than 4-3 DT's.

Come on Memphis...you had to chuckle at that a little.

Reuben Foster just told myself and BOL's Charles Power at the Atlanta Nike camp that he considers himself 100 percent committed to Alabama.
"It's set. It's set and done."
Despite pulling a muscle in his leg, Foster also received an invite to The Opening at today's event.

The LSU recruiting board roasted me for that one.

Good luck to him except when playing UGA. I did hear he was limping pretty good from a pulled quad. At least he will get plenty of time for it to heal before NSD--couldn't resist.
