On 247:

quote:

Naples (Fla.) Barron Collier TE Mike Heuerman informed Jason Sapp of Blue and Gold Illustrated (247Sports Notre Dame site) that UA is making a late run at him. Heuerman has set his announcement for April 23 and plans to see Miami's spring game on April 14 and Ohio State scheduled on April 21. Heuerman has a top four of Ohio State (brother Jeff is a TE there), Notre Dame, Miami, and LSU.

DAMN I wish we got on him WAAAAAY earlier, his film is AMAZING, waaay outside at this point, but if we can get him to come visit we might have a shot

........NO

Peterson wouldn't be bad, wouldn't mind guy from Wisconsin......thinking, but the way this staff and the culture is set up now at Bama, you are a lot more likely to see an inside candidate, like if Kirby stays on staff, he would be a#1 candidate, and considering that Tennessee might drastically improve in the East this year with Sal coaching D (think the way Grantham got UGA going in the right direction despite their bumbling idiot HC) there is a chance they hold on to the staff.

Not a chance in Hell.

He has a brother at tOSU, and his father has been great friends with Miles for years. ND and Miami are the top TE Universities. Miami just got Dobard.

I saw that about Dobard, kinda strange that a kid from Shreveport? right? says he grew up a Hurricanes fan and no interest in LSU

What gives Memphis??

And y'all desperately need TE's

Also hearing you can pretty much pencil Kamara in as the 3rd back/slot WR athlete in this class

Saban used the "NFL FA tactic" of offering another similar player (RB Ryan Green) and making him sweat for his future spot in this class he is the master

Anyway, got home late last night from a FIVE DAY!! Unofficial visit and will be back for Aday

He wants to be a feature TE, and we have Smith all but locked up. He obviously didn't like the thought of playing second fiddle. We are also in good standing with Huerman, but he is likely OSU bound.

Skinner is still out there as is Bridgewater. Both in our own backyard. There is also an Arkansas TE that is a lifelong LSU fan that wants an offer. We have our options so he can enjoy those Miami sanctions.

If it hasn't started in the last 10 minutes, it will be starting any minute now.

ETA: It was scheduled for a 12:30ish start.

I've been on Spring Break, so I haven't kept up with much recruiting the past week, but how did Bateman's visit to Bama go?

Went really well according to reports. He said he loved the campus and the coaches. Also mentioned the fact that he likes the way our depth chart looks at QB.

The good thing about having some bigger WRs is that they tend to be better when blocking DBs on run plays, which is something to consider when talking about the yardage Lacy is gonna put up.

I don't like the fact he isn't much of a blocker. I'd rather Bama get a balanced TE if they decide to go after 2.

It's assumed because he's a 6-6, 235 pound white TE, but he's really just a big WR right now...

ArDarius Stewart is on hand and spent several minutes talking with Coach Saban today. We'll try and get his reaction later this evening.

quote:

*** Short look today (one period) for individual drills in the stadium.

*** All the position moves remain in place for the scrimmage. Alphonse Taylor with the OL, Brent Calloway on offense as an H-back, Chris Bonds at the Jack spot, Dillon Lee with the Sam LBs. Look for Taylor to get his look with the second OL today. That's the group he was running with pre-scrimmage, with Isaac Luatua at the other guard spot.

*** CB Johnathan Fulton looked good again in individual drills. Barring a rough outing today, he should be with the 1st D on A-Day. He's probably the smallest corner I can recall Saban starting at UA, but he's got the speed and quickness for certain.

*** Injured RB Eddie Lacy (toe) was with the running backs today, but was still in a black (non-contact) jersey, while OL Arie Kouandjio (knee) and RB Blake Sims (hip) were climbing stadium steps in full uniform. Lots of fun.

*** QB Phillip Sims once again did not throw during indy drills. As mentioned earlier in the week, the second scrimmage should be another nice growth opportunity for redshirt freshman Phillip Ely.

*** Once again, Xzavier Dickson and Adrian Hubbard were the OLBs working with the first defense. Although we've yet to see either in game action for an extended period of time, they are an intimidating-looking pair on either edge from a physical standpoint. Nothing against Cory Reamer and Eryk Anders, who were part of a dominant national championship defense, but if you put the four of them together in the same room, you'd never guess the older two played the same position as the younger two.

*** Quite a few dropped passes by the receivers during individual drills today, particularly among the less experienced guys.

*** Look for subscriber's choice video upcoming on freshman WR Chris Black.

*** Saban was chatting it up with a recruit before the scrimmage on the sideline. ... Not sure who yet but my understanding is that it was one of the current commitments. ... Saban PC coming up in a couple hours.

Rivals250 quarterback Connor Mitch of Raleigh (N.C.) Wakefield might not be close to making a commitment, but he is close to narrowing his list of potential schools.

Rivals250 QB Connor Mitch visits Florida this weekend.

According to Mitch, who holds more than a dozen offers, a top five or top three probably will come from him the week of April 16. "I have three more visits before I do it," Mitch told Rivals.com.

The first of those trips begins Friday, when Mitch heads to Gainesville, Fla., for the Florida spring game. The following weekend, he will check out Alabama and Auburn on back-to-back days. The Gators have not yet offered, but the 6-feet-3, 210-pounder said he thinks "there's a good chance" it will happen this weekend.

Maryland and South Carolina were the most recent offers for Mitch. He visited the Gamecocks with fellow North Carolina prospects Corey Cooper and Lewis Neal last week.

"It was a good visit," Mitch said. "When we got there, we watched them scrimmage for a couple hours, and we saw the talents they have. Then they took us around the school, the academic center, the football facilities - all that stuff."

Mitch also met with coach Steve Spurrier while in Columbia.

"We were in Coach Spurrier's office for about 45 minutes," Mitch recalled. "We just talked with him. He was really down to earth. We talked about life, and about basketball. We talked about the Final Four and all that stuff. He was pretty easy to talk to."

A recent visit to LSU stands out, Mitch said. He was offered by Tigers coach Les Miles while in Baton Rouge.

"I had an awesome time down there," Mitch said. "The coaches are really chill and have a good time. They're not serious 24/7 like some coaches are. They're real easy to get along with."

Who is recruiting Mitch the hardest?

"Right now, I'd probably say LSU, South Carolina and North Carolina," Mitch said. "I mean, [LSU assistant Steve Kragthorpe] wants me to call him about every other day to check in and talk, tell him what's going on. UNC stays in contact with me a lot, too. Coach [Blake] Anderson, the QB coach. At South Carolina, Coach [G.A.] Mangus and Coach [Joe] Robinson send me a lot of messages on Facebook."

I really like Calloway at HB. I think he could do soon damage catching balls.

Isn't Tyler Hayes supposed to get a look at HB also when he gets to campus?
