*Michael Williams is being pushed hard this spring by CBW to be a physical threat. Mike is so big but he doesn't usually play big in the passing game & usually goes down very easy upon contact. He must work on physicality if he wants to be an NFL TE.
*DJ is having the absolute best spring right now. His footwork has improved so much just from last season.
*Nuss made a slight tweak with AJ's mechanics that has really helped with his slants/crossing patterns.
*Chris Jones has been compared to Freddie Milons on here and honestly that is very accurate as far as how he runs & moves. I think he will be a much better WR however.
*Austin Shepherd has also had a very good spring.
*Backup center is still a huge ? mark. I think we need to target a true center in this recruiting cycle.
*Kickoffs being moved to the 35 is going to be huge for us. Cade has looked much better kicking this spring than I have ever seen. Mandell has been incredible to say the least this spring.
*Harrison Jones can be as good a WR as Smelley was but he also seems to have Smelleys issues with blocking from early in his career.
*Brian Vogler has been very disappointing at this point. Hands aren't terrible but his blocking for his size is atrocious.
*Our DL is going to be nasty this year. We truly have good depth across the line for the first time.
*Vinnie Sunseri is already a crowd favorite for his special teams play but after folks see him hitting people on D it will take on a whole new level. Anyone who was at the scrimmage knows that hit on Cooper was nasty!!!

From Trevor, the new guy on BOL:
And from Charles Powers:
quote:
Seems like every time I talk to someone these days one name continues to reappear. Amari Cooper. I am told that his explosive athleticism continues to impress both Tide staff and teammates. Keep an eye out for this guy. He could be an early impact guy for the offense.
quote:.
We have been hearing alot about Ryan Anderson. His work ethic, both in the weight room and in the classroom, has given him the oppurtunity to to be a real contributor in his freshman year
And from Charles Powers:
quote:
One big reason for Cooper having a smooth transition is his advanced route-running. He's a very good all around WR in terms of his physical skills (size, hands, speed, in-air ability, etc.) but was probably the best route-runner in the class of 2013 IMO. The ability to separate that early in his career is going to pay major dividends. Look at WR's that play and contribute early at big-time programs and most are either elite physical talents (Jones, AJ Green, etc.) and/or advanced route-runners.
If JUCO's are fair game, I'm going with Belue. I'd be a little surprised if he didn't see significant time. For the HS EE's I'd probably go with Anderson or Yeldon after Cooper.

golden is the shite.
Based on what? The one bowl games he's been to? Or his losing record as a coach for his career?

Ya Golden doesnt impress me at all. In order to coach at Bama you need to have a better resume than him. Unless he wins a NC championship between now and then.

Coop will be a top 10 WR in the draft before he leaves in 3 yrs
We are now FINALLY starting to get elite talent at WR

Great to see Bama have high standards bc I could've swore we hired some mediocres for that job post-Bryant. Golden is already doing great recruiting and comes off as very intelligent in his press conf. He turned Temple around. I'm pretty you guys were high on Saban when he was at Michigan State.

No. That's the point.

Then it's a poor one. we're in the age where coaches like Peterson turn down much better gigs.

What makes you think Al Golden could be hired by Alabama today and we would compete for SEC and National Championships for the next decade?

Surprising.

Farthest thing from surprising.

Peterson has won his conference every year to go along with a multiple BCS appearances with a few wins. Saban at MSU didn't do shite. Never won the conference and had a losing record against the rivals. Not exactly the same situation.

I'm looking ahead down the road. you never know with hires. Folks thought schellenberger would dominate at ou, same with Fran at a&m. Bob stoops was unproven when sooners hired him. Same when Louisville hired petrino. I like the fact that golden runs 3-4.
Posted on 4/6/12 at 11:50 am to RollTide4Ever
No it isnt. If we were looking for a coach in 2000, we would not have hired Saban. In order to coach at Bama you have to have the resume. Golden doesn't even come close.

Then who the hell would Bama hire? Fran?
