LSU is already starting to stop the negative recruiting for our TE's and WR's. First Smith and Diarse. Now Dobard.

quote:

Dobard's visit to on Saturday was positive During the time that he watched the Tigers drill, he paid special attention to the tight ends. On this day, the tight ends were a notable part of the passing game." "They surprised me a lot that they threw the ball to the tight end," he said. "I just loved watching them practice." Speaking to TigerBait.com on Saturday night after attending the spring practice, Dobard sounded positive overall. "I enjoyed it," he said. "I liked it a lot. I'm still very open."

Another Top ranked TE Mike Heuerman from FL had this to say about LSU.

quote:

Right now, Heuerman said the edge would go to LSU .
"I definitely love the way they use their tight ends," said Heuerman, who watched practice Thursday. "Last year they used a two tight end package 70 percent of the time which gives you a great opportunity to be on the field doing something. They're graduating two seniors this year so they're definitely in need of tight ends.

IDK how many TE's we are expecting to take, but I'm guessing 3.
I think we want

Smith
Heuerman
Dobard
Bridgewater- Also a BIG time basketball star.

In that order.
Posted here since Bama is also after Dobard and Smith.

Not to go too far into the LSU TE discussion and get this thread off track, but it will be an uphill climb for us to recruit TEs.

Our ineptitude at QB for the last 4 years meant that TEs didn't get a pass thrown their way unless they were the first read. Now that we have a QB that seems to have some talent, we don't have any tight ends on the roster currently with similar skill sets to the guys we're recruiting, so it will be tough to actually illustrate how they would be used compared to the current guys.

ProjectP I have realized this and as such me and Memphis have headed up the "Get DeSean Smith to LSU" committee, Memphis is Prez, I am Vice Prez, we still need a chancellor, statistician and curator if you are interested.

All jokes aside though really hope LSU lands Smith instead of Bama, who has OJ Howard, same skill set just more athletic stronger, scored the highest rating at SPARQ, really wanna keep Howard so I hope this happens, and he would give LSU a weapon they haven't had, now if they use him properly is a whole other quandry

The more I hear Howard talk about Auburn and Bama, the more I think he'll switch if our TE's have a good year

It's gonna be a big time battle to keep OJ, I know Loeffler SHOULD get Lutz and Hutcherson (very underrated) involved heavily, I am hoping AU has the same shortcomings ProjectP spoke of with LSU

Not major and not really recruiting related, but heard tonight that a very familiar name is soon to be named to a staff position with UA. Can't say yet but news should be out soon. Should be familiar name to all UA fans and those in high school coaching circles.

Speaking of concern over Alabama football, I have the Tide at 68 scholarship players, with no scholarship kickers. When the 18 remaining signees come we have to reduce our number by 1 to get to 85. I have already removed Carswell, Bowman and Love.

The scary part is that there are only 9 scholarship seniors on the roster. There are only three realistic chances that Juniors leave early (Fluker, Lacey and Milliner). That leaves Bama with an incredibly small class or a whole lot of processing. With all the available talent being discussed on this board I think Bama may be sending a short bus to UNA.
