re: Have we gotten what we paid for?

I don' t want CAG fired but I am disappointed in both on the court results and Bama's offensive production. The team has phenomenal athletes but no great basketball players.

The team does not take advantage of its athleticism by pushing the ball up the floor. Bama appears to have no idea about how to attack a zone defense. (watch how Louisville plays Syracuse) The team does not have the discipline to beat the press by maintaining its spacing on the floor, and often goes in to the corner to receive the ball and make the trap easier. These are fundamental errors which a quality coach should have corrected.

Bama rarely scores after a timeout or on an in bounds play. Our end of game possession seems to be give it to one of the Trevors and make a play.

This team could have won 5 more games if they had just signed a Chris Hines caliber Juco post player this year.

I fear our style of play is contributing to our difficulty in recruiting. Who wants to come and play defense and have the team score 50 points a game. Kids want to play a LOB CITY style of basketball and be on sportscenter.

I agree the team plays hard most of the time but Grant needs to hire an offensive coordinator. Also, Nick Jacobs should not be on scholarship if he shoots only 50% from the line. That is pitiful. High school girls shoot 75%. 2013-2014 is make or break for me. NCAA or bust.

The only caveat is that Stallings liked it conservative so I don't think Croyle would have thrown as much.

Stallings was interviewed about the championship year of 1992 and why what was perceived as an above average Tide won it all. He responded," We were blessed with a QB who could not throw very well, so we relied on running the ball and playing great defense."

I think he was right. That combination made for close and excitng games but that defensive line (Curry, Copeland and NG Robert Stewart) were sick.

Best IMO Bama has ever fielded including the Saban era.
You're wrong. That is a chop block. The defender is on his way down. That is why it appears he is hitting him in the side/ribs.

A chop block requires one offensive player to initiate contact below the waist while another offensive player has the same defender engaged above the waist. It is considered to be a dangerous play due to the likelihood of increased injury as the defender cannot protect himself.

Bama 's chances to make the NCAA

Posted by jddawg58 on 2/22/13 at 12:49 am
I think Bama could make it to the tournament, if they can win 4 of their last 5 conferemce games. This means they win @ LSU, beat AU at home, lose @ FL, win @ Ole Miss, and beat GA at home. That will be tough to do, but I think Bama can steal Ole Miss' NCAA berth with a win at Oxford and only losing to the gators. That would be good enough for second in the conference and would mean 22 wins going into the SEC tourney.

I don't think Bama will make any noise even if they get into the NCAA, but that would be a solid year and something to build on until our post play improves.

I believe he has 14 available. Just my best guess.
Jones and Warmack will be on there if they accept.

Jones just had foot surgery.

Bama Seniors' professional prospects

Bama loses the following contributing seniors:

Quinton Dial, Kelly Johnson, Nico Johnson, Barrett Jones, Robert Lester, Jeremy Shelley, Damion Square, Carson Tinker, Chance Warmack, Jesse Williams and Michael Williams.

I believe that all these players, with the exception of Shelley and Kelly Johnson, will sign a professional contract next year. Even Carson Tinker will likely be a free agent. Hell, he hasn't had a bad snap in the last 2 years at Alabama. He is an exceptional long snapper.

Chance and Jesse Williams are first rounders, Barrett will be drafted in the first 2 rounds, Nico and Lester by the 3rd. Michael Williams taken by the 5th and Square and Dial are late rounders. Tinker is an UDFA and makes a team if they need a LS.

RTR

Oh, and Milliner, Fluker and Lacy are all gone by the 48th pick (mid second round).

Have you not heard, JFF is transfering to Tuscaloosa. He has a sick Grandfather in Alabama. He is eligible to play next year according to the NCAA. Saban told him he could be Bama's Wildcat QB.
:nana:
Barrett Jones played in three games in 2008 so he probably also blocked for Glen Coffee who rushed for over 1000 yards that year.
Dabo is not a better coach than Les but he has a better OC and he stays out of his way, unlike Lesticles.
Yes they all got out coached

I thought FLA went away from who they are and what they do. They are a smashmouth FB team. They come out and throw a pick six, run wide on 2nd and goal. They have played field position and great defense all year and in the Sugar Bowl they try 3 onside kicks.

I think Boom panicked and his defense could not get off the field. If you take away the 14 points they gave Louisville on the first play and onside kick (with penalties,) Fla is in that game to the end.
What explains the outcomes in the Gator, Chicken and Sugar Bowls?

ACC >> SEC
or
Dabo >> Les

Big East >> SEC
or
Charlie Strong >> Will Muschamp

Big 10 >> SEC
or
Pat Fitzgerald >> Dan Merlins

I believe all 3 of these guys got outcoached.

Anybody afraid Coach Kelly is spending more time on his resume than on the game plan? I fear that has already accepted another position, and it just has not been announced yet.

He can earn his coaching stripes tonight if he can motivate his team to a win with one foot out the door.
CB-Belue
CB-G.Smith
S-HCD
S-Perry/Collins
Star-G.Smith(Fulton replaces outside)
Money-Sunseri/Williams(Different situational work)

Are any of the 2013 signee CBs and Ss going to be EEs this spring? What position does Eddie Williams play going forward?

Dee Miliner

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any chance he returns?

He is likely the first CB to be selected in the draft, in the first 10, so no.

Amazingly, almost all the scholarship juniors have played this year. The only one who didn't participate in a game was William Ming. Chris Bonds only played in two games this year.

Unless CNS is aware of a large group of Present players who wish to transfer, I don't know how Bama signs a class of 25 or more this year.

Did Brandon Hill sign a LOI in 2012 and does he count against the 2012 class, the 2013 class, or both?
As far as scholarship seniors that Bama is losing , I only count 10. (Michael Williams, Jesse Williams, Chance Warmack, Carson Tinker, Damion Square, Jeremy Shelley, Robert Lester, Barrett Jones, Nico Johnson, Quinton Dial). This assumes that Tinker and Shelley were on scholarship, and I am assuming Kelly Johnson remains a walkon.

As far as juniors leaving for the NFL, I have three as likely (D.J. Fluker, Ed Lacy, Dee Milliner).

How do we sign 25 guys if we are only replacing 13 scholarships? (aka as who is being processed?)

We presently have 21 verbal commitments. Are some upperclassmen considering giving up football?
Shouldn't that be Colt, Jordan and Everett?

If Greg just takes the snap and kneels every play he'll be better than Sanchez.

Rex told Greg that in order to win the job over Sanchez, he can throw only two interceptions and have only 1 butt-fumble. LOL

I hope Gmac has an outstanding day. Maybe the rest of the Jets haven't already put their season on cruise control. They better play well because there could be some significant changes in the future.
