Saban is going to offer four year scholarships now.

On Feb. 18, the member institutions that comprise NCAA Division I voted narrowly not to rescind legislation that allows schools to offer multiyear scholarships instead of strictly offering renewable one-year scholarships. It was by the slimmest of margins, but multiyear scholarships survived.

That, in turn, led to dire predictions of a Tower of Babel situation, with every school making different offers to recruits in an impossible-to-decipher jumble of various terms and limits.

Nick Saban doesn't see that happening.

"We're going to offer four-year scholarships," Saban said. "Our whole conference is going to do it, all the schools, I think.

"And we're happy to do it."

The University of Alabama head football coach, interviewed in his office Tuesday, said that he had waited until after the Feb. 18 vote on rescinding the measure before making any public comment, but stated he had "no problem" with offering four-year football scholarships to prospects for 2013 and beyond.

Not sure if we can flip him but it wouldn't suprise me if we did. "I mean it's Coach Saban"

recruits know he's the best in the business and want to play for him, sometimes even if they grew up rooting against Bama. Dominate!

Sorry I was MIA I also have an ESPN

Also about the post on BOL about Calloway not suprisingly considering we have another player likely to transfer (decision has not been made yet but his Grandmother is very sick, so a sad situation if it happens, and the transfer rule will be waived) but I haven't heard about Bowman

Maurice Smith (Sugar Land, Texas/Dulles) just texted me to let me know that Nick Saban verbally offered within the last 20-minutes or so.

I'll have a reason to watch local high school games now.

I've heard rumors it's DePriest. I'd hate to lose him because he is going to be awesome but who could blame him if his grandma doesn't have much time.

Unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, Liner grew up an Auburn fan, and it didn't take long for the in-state star to choose the Tigers. He gave a verbal commitment to AU coach Gene Chizik last June. "I've been an Auburn fan all my life," Liner said. "When I went down there, they just had nice facilities, and it felt like home. I got real close to Coach Chizik and my defensive line coach." Auburn might have won the first round, but it's a long time until the end of the fight, and the Alabama coaching staff hasn't stopped battling. UA coach Nick Saban reached out to Liner last week and encouraged the top prospect to visit Tuscaloosa this spring for one of the Tide's practices. Liner is not sure if or when he will visit, but he is intrigued by the Alabama coach. "I mean, it's Coach Saban," Liner said. "With Saban, we've got a real close connection, but I want to get closer to him. He was just wanting me to come down and visit again. He said that I'm a real good player, and that's what he's looking for."

Dee Liner is pissed that you posted this, Bry-no...

Oh, do like...

Not because his Grandma is sick, but because we wouldn't have to see him in Saban's defense. Has the rumor mainly been about him, or have other players' names been involved? This is the first I've heard of it.

ANSWER ME, DAMNIT?!

I don't see him leaving, it's probably just another off-season rumor. However, is he the only player tied to the rumor ATM? Him leaving would be a pretty big loss. I'll be grinning from ear to ear if he leaves, not gonna lie...but I hope his Grandma is okay. This is the first I've heard about anything like this. Seems kind of off the wall to me.

I remember that too. Really hope Trey isn't transferring. He's gonna be a beast, already is. You guys are my source and I'm not even on your super secret email list, so I have no insight, just sayin.

Like I said the final decision hasn't been made yet so still might not happen, but yes it is DePriest to Ohio St and his grandmother is pretty bad supposedly

This is going to sound callous, but if his grandmother is so bad, what's the point if transferring?
