Love the people watching from the overpass .
I’m headed to Athens in November for the A&M/UGA game.
I’m so stinkin excited about it.
The house we rented is supposedly as close to the stadium as it could be.
ETA: I just noticed y’all are playing A&M in this photo! Hopefully the score isn’t a harbinger of things to come ....

There wasn't anything too comprehensive about Williams Brice in picture form, but there is this nifty YouTube video uploaded about four years ago.

Is it just the picture or is Georgia’s stadium have a very low angle on their seats?

I wonder how many players have tripped and fell running down to touch Howard's Rock.

Probably several over the years

It happens with enough frequency that this sports writer penned a brief article on it:
quote:
”Just take it slow that first time,” Mac Lain said. “And don’t jump when you get to that second little hill – just jog or walk.”
His youthful teammates should listen, for Mac Lain has been able to avoid mishaps and missteps on the downhill dash for three years, as has his roommate, senior center Ryan Norton.
“Me and Ryan have talked it numerous times, and if one of us happens to do that (take a tumble), we’d make sure that everyone in the world knew about it,” Mac Lain said. “So we’ve taken pride in walking down very slowly.”
Clemson’s Eric Mac Lain offers tips, tactics for ‘running down the hill’ (The State)

The stadium is built into a creek bed (Tanyard Creek runs underneath and irrigates the sod) which creates for a less steep seating angle (and this less trapped noise) but better sightlines.
As for the folks watching from the bridge, before 1980 when the east end zone was I closed people would also watch from the other end zone and the railroad tracks (which were active). The Track People were often crazy drunk and would have to go tumbling down the hill when a train would come through during games
Tracks are to the right side of the picture and the bridge on the left
And here they are today

UGA's Dooley Field @Sanford Stadium...Sports Illustrated Magazine once called it the most beautiful college stadium in America. It sits in a "natural bowl" or valley and they built around it. A stream flows naturally directly under the field.
Only stadium in America where its past mascots are buried in a mausoleum inside the stadium.
The University refuses to enclose the upper West Endzone in order to keep the view from the bridge open--it's incredible. I like that and hope they never do enclose the upper West side.
I was hoping someone would post Sanford pics...thanks!

I didn't realize Miss. State's stadium was that nice...it may not be the largest, but it's one of the most handsome looking...very nice.

The Reveilles are buried in Kyle Field Plaza, complete with their own scoreboard.

Your eyes are correct. Sanford Stadium's angle of seats is naturally not steep---the sideline seats were built at the same angle slope of the valley in which the stadium rests -- no supporting structures or anything like that.
It makes for a much better viewing of the field, without feeling you're far away from the action. It's sort of like a stadium-seating theatre effect.

Is the plaza inside or outside the stadium?

Past UGA mascots (Uga) are buried here inside Sanford
