fantastic "new' rivalries created.
I could see that with LSU-Texas but I hate change

Personally, LSU should play Florida, Ole Miss, and Auburn as permanent opponents. A&M has always felt like a fabricated rivalry and OU does too.

Don't think they'd schedule a game against when the Dallas Cowboys play on Thanskgiving afternoon. I'd put the Egg Bowl on jefferson pilot Saturday at 1130.

It may have meant something if it weren't a cross-divison game and weren't 2-9 against them since they joined the conference.
Nah, probably not. Arkansas could be undefeated against Missouri and it would not move the needle, at least for me.
LSU Game: Arkansas and LSU first played in 1901. 70 total games between the two. LSU purchased its first live mascot in the 1930's from the Little Rock Zoo. In the 1966 Cotton Bowl, LSU ended the Hogs longest football winning streak at 22 games. The teams have also had memorable games since Arkansas joined the SEC. Miracle on Markham I & II. The long OT game when LSU was #1 and generally speaking, the Battle for the Boot is usually a damn good game and should be moved back to the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Ole Miss Game: 71 meetings total. First game was in 1908. 1963 & 1970 Sugar Bowl games. Met annually from 1940-1962 until the series was cancelled because of fans brawling in the stands. Games would be played in Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS in nuetral site games.
The 1960 contest between the teams was won by Ole Miss 10–7 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, on their way to a final record of 10–0–1 for the 1960 season and the second of their three claimed national championships. Sometimes called the Tommy Bell game by Arkansas fans, he called a timeout in an attempt to quiet Razorback fans.[14] Rebel Allen Green did not hear the whistle and kicked the ball through the uprights. After the timeout, fans swear Bell signaled that the kick was good as soon as Green connected with the ball. Fans also swear that the kick was no good. Fighting broke out all around the stadium and because of this, the annual series between the two schools was played the next year in Jackson and then canceled until the two teams renewed the series in 1981.
Texas Game: 80 meetings between the two schools. First game was in 1894. 1964 game that led to the Arkansas national title. 1969 Game of the Century with President Richard Nixon in attendance and awarding Texas the national title after the game. Frank Broyles never watched the film of this game. Arkansas led for most of the game but Texas stormed back in the fourth quarter and won 15-14. As of 2023, the 1969 Game of the Century was still the highest rated Nielsen rated televised football game ever, with a 52.1 rating. Both teams have been ranked in 23 of the meetings between the schools. In 13 of those meetings, both teams were ranked inside the top 10.
Now you compare those above to this...
Missouri Game: 5 meetings prior to Missouri joining the SEC. 16 total meetings. Outside of two bowl games, Arkansas and Missouri only played 4 times in the regular season prior to Missouri joining the SEC.

A&M and LSU played OOC 6 times in the 90s, 4 times in the 80s, 6 times in the 70s, and every season in the 60s.
It's kind of like our rivalry with South Carolina; it was an established OOC rivalry that became a conference rivalry.

Tennessee:
Three permament rivals:
Bama (most historic rival)
Kentucky (most played rivalry and it extends further than football)
Vandy (it is our instate rival so has to be there)
if only two permanent games were enforced:
Bama and Vandy
if one:
Bama

Don’t think there’s a fair way to do this unfortunately. But for Florida it’s UGA, Tennessee, LSU

Anyone claiming that LSU/A&M Football is fabricated is ignorant of history.
It was one of the most played OOC rivalries in the country back in the day

I would love this and hope it happens. The game in Austin on your natty run was awesome and fun. In 2025+ there is no significant reason for Texas 3rd rival to be Ark over LSU.
I wasn't alive in the 60s and while I respect and appreciate the rival you will never hear a Texas fan say Ark is any greater than their 3rd rival. Most fans don't remember the SWC days and only reason Ark was a rival is because of the SWC.
If I am CDC and the SEC I am pairing LSU and Texas

Makes sense. Not really a rival when you lose to Bama 80% of the time. Especially at home

LSU doesnt care about the aggies. The aggies are just desperate for attention and the conference forced that game on everyone for viewership and alcohol sales. LSU's traditional rivals are the Mississippi schools and for the last 30 years Florida. Theres also no loved loss between LSU and Arky. Texas schools thinks everyone wants to play them but its literally just Texas, Aggies, and OU that care about each other. Arkansas wants to beat Texas but no one cares about Texas ATM.

2) Texas A & M
Not sure who's 3rd for Arky...
LSU, Texas Tech, Missouri?

Nah, probably not.
The Mizzou-Arkansas rivalry was doomed from the start because of the game being meaningless. They weren't in the same division, and the lack of history between Mizzou and Arkansas meant no team or fanbase really disliked losing to the other one, regardless of the fabricated trophy.
The only time something was on the line during that game was 2014.

Having Ala/uga/UF as AU’s 3 perms would be awesome. Hard as hell, but Auburn is at its best when it’s playing these 3 every year.
Yeah, this would be the ideal setup. I miss playing Florida yearly.
People seem to forget that UF/AUB is one of the oldest rivalries in the SEC...84 games played
