It's not so bad if you like homeless bums.

Well put. Texas travels well…there will be a lot of burnt orange at the stadium, and they will be respectful and hospitable. Some of you will make new Texas friends, and Texas comes there with the expectation of winning. We will play hard. We will be wearing our traditional “icy whites” unis.

Hope to see a great game, Y’all (we say y’all in Texas) have a great team and an iconic coach, We have total respect for The Tide. My dad went to the University of Alabama, I was born in Alabama, most of my relatives are there….but, I’ve lived in Texas for a long time. Maybe I’ll see some of you there?

I hate like hell we can't offer y'all the coolish weather we had last Saturday. Still should be upper 80's for kickoff & then cooling down to low 60's Sat night. Which is still better than the Austin forecast temps of 105/79 for Saturday.

For the record, there ARE NO "ex-Aggies".

What we have are "Former Students". That's why we have the Former Students Association (our official alumni org) and teasips have "texas exes".

I can understand why y'all might want to wash off the stench of going to Texas...

Stroll through the walk of champions. There you will see he's an Icon. Not any of those in Austin I suppose.

Not so. Their icons are Cesar Chavez and Mao.

Fair. But if you don’t show respect to those who are respectful to you it just makes you an ***hole.

The difference is critical.

The difference is that when Bama goes to Baton Rouge LSU fans love to hate Bama, but assuming you didn’t roll out of a trailer park looking for trouble, the vast majority will invite you to their tailgate, share their food and talk football all afternoon.

Because what I suspect you never learned in the B12 is that what makes college football and the SEC in particular great isn’t you. It’s the intersection of your school and traditions with the other school's passion and traditions. That’s what makes the games matter. Maybe you didn’t experience that in Ames, IA or Manhattan, KS but you have the chance to be equal partners in something incredible if you can set your ego aside just a bit.

It’s fine to play USC or Ohio State to start the season, but it’s not the same as going to Knoxville with the leaves changing in the Smokies in the background with pregame videos of Gen Neyland taking on Bear Bryant 60 years ago playing on the video board.

It’s watching the horses run at Keeneland sipping bourbon before heading to the game in Lexington.

It’s the sun dropping on the Mississippi River in Death Valley with the west on the line or the tension in the air before an Iron Bowl with the eagle flying at Jordan-Hare with a year of bragging rights with your neighbor on riding on what happens next.

If you come in and try to become part of the cultural spectacle that is SEC football instead of demanding to be the spectacle you will see what peak college football is while becoming part of something sustainable.

If you let your base tendencies drive you like you did in the B12 you will be despised and never welcomed anywhere you go while greatly contributing to the demise of the sport you claim to be passionate fans of.

Very well written and accurate, I really think that Texas fans think the sun rises and sets with themselves. They're going to be in for a rude shock when they're no longer the 800 pound gorilla.

2. The BIG XII was never destroyed either. It still exists.

Yeah and I guess the Pac12 does too on paper. Doesn't mean anyone takes it seriously once you and Texas leave.

Its a hollowed out shell of its previous self.

Add to that the history of the Big 8 and Big 12 conferences and the role that Texas played in destroying them and reasonable fans are wary of how Texas is going to handle being a part of a big boy conference of equals.

What role did Texas play in "destroying" the Big 8?

Destroyed means destroyed in the non-fantasyland I inhabit. The BIG XII has proven itself resilient if anything....

You forgot this one:

3. If "texsa destroyed muh SWC!" what were A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech doing?

The rubes - they hate it.

They are channeled to 6th Street and then they leave.

The only people I’ve ever met who like living in Austin are mega libs. Everyone my age that I know are trying to move out as fast as they can. It really doesn’t have anything to offer other than excessive traffic in comparison to its population, high cost of living, inflated/unaffordable housing, homeless people, and other types of folks that most people don’t want screaming their bs niche liberal agendas in their ears. Probably missed a lot more, but have never been impressed and was downright disgusted the last time I went through in 2020 - hopefully won’t need to go back for any reason.
