I didn't think they believed in Jesus in Austin any more. Here's hoping Alabama puts the fear of God back in them.
This game isn't being played in Austin. They can come to town act like they have some raising take their L and get out of town

I feel pretty confident that 99% of Texas fans will come to Tuscaloosa, act hospitably, be treated hospitably, and it will be like college football is supposed to be.
And a few Texas fans will act like asses. And a few Alabama fans will act like asses.
And an LSU fan with a Texas Longhorn alter account will tell us all how horrible Tuscaloosa and all the people there are.

The majority of Texas fans who make the trip to Tuscaloosa will know NOTHING about football. That would be true of Texas fans at the game in Austin last season but it will be very obvious away from Austin. I have been to a bunch of games at DKR and the average level of football knowledge amongst the crowd is about the same as you would find at a Vandy game from Vandy fans...it is an event that just happens to involve a game of football. That is not so in the SEC..it is a football game that includes an event centered around football...In Texas it is a social gathering, a place to see and be seen...in the SEC it is a place to watch your football team beat the shite out of someone. All fan bases have the brooks brothers / lord and taylor crowd...that is the only crowd they have in Austin...and they are the ones who will travel for certain, the majority of Texas "fans" don't care enough to travel to Austin and certainly not staying for the whole game, they sure as hell ain't traveling to Tuscaloosa. They do not resemble a SEC team or fanbase at all....

Pathetic. If you show respect to these people when they very obviously have none for you, then you're just a doormat.

Fair. But if you don’t show respect to those who are respectful to you it just makes you an ***hole.
The difference is critical.
The difference is that when Bama goes to Baton Rouge LSU fans love to hate Bama, but assuming you didn’t roll out of a trailer park looking for trouble, the vast majority will invite you to their tailgate, share their food and talk football all afternoon.
Because what I suspect you never learned in the B12 is that what makes college football and the SEC in particular great isn’t you. It’s the intersection of your school and traditions with the other school's passion and traditions. That’s what makes the games matter. Maybe you didn’t experience that in Ames, IA or Manhattan, KS but you have the chance to be equal partners in something incredible if you can set your ego aside just a bit.
It’s fine to play USC or Ohio State to start the season, but it’s not the same as going to Knoxville with the leaves changing in the Smokies in the background with pregame videos of Gen Neyland taking on Bear Bryant 60 years ago playing on the video board.
It’s watching the horses run at Keeneland sipping bourbon before heading to the game in Lexington.
It’s the sun dropping on the Mississippi River in Death Valley with the west on the line or the tension in the air before an Iron Bowl with the eagle flying at Jordan-Hare with a year of bragging rights with your neighbor on riding on what happens next.
If you come in and try to become part of the cultural spectacle that is SEC football instead of demanding to be the spectacle you will see what peak college football is while becoming part of something sustainable.
If you let your base tendencies drive you like you did in the B12 you will be despised and never welcomed anywhere you go while greatly contributing to the demise of the sport you claim to be passionate fans of.

Texas and respect?

I remember when people would refer to the University of Texas as The University of California at Austin.

Well put. Texas travels well…there will be a lot of burnt orange at the stadium, and they will be respectful and hospitable. Some of you will make new Texas friends, and Texas comes there with the expectation of winning. We will play hard. We will be wearing our traditional “icy whites” unis.
Hope to see a great game, Y’all (we say y’all in Texas) have a great team and an iconic coach, We have total respect for The Tide. My dad went to the University of Alabama, I was born in Alabama, most of my relatives are there….but, I’ve lived in Texas for a long time. Maybe I’ll see some of you there?

Every fanbase has D bags. Unfortunately, Texas isn't exempt from that. I think like most of the opponents BDS has hosted, most of the longhorns' traveling fans will be respectful, impressed with what they see (Texas hasn't played in Tuscaloosa since 1902) and take in the surroundings while enjoying their time with Alabama fans. They just want to see their own team win or at least play a good game.
People in real life are much different than the message board tough guys

No one here has ever been anything close to "respectful" of Texas. For all y'all's talk about Texas arrogance, which is mostly just parroting aggy's bullshite they fed you for a decade, no one can touch y'all for conceit.

I'm glad you'll be in the icy whites....it'll make the stains more visible when your players shat themselves in the 1st few minutes of play. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Good gracious! Can you imagine those two together....they don't take baths, have very serious stanky reputations here in Hollywood regarding their own lack of proper hygiene....yuck, that SUV must've smelled worse than a donkey's behind.

Does everyone think every Texas fan lives in a tiny liberal bubble in the city of Austin?

I think you're missing context here.
I'm not accusing you or most of the Texas fans in this thread of being disrespectful.
But please understand that before Texas ever joined the SEC, hordes of Texas trolls descended on this site and acted like arrogant clowns. Add to that the history of the Big 8 and Big 12 conferences and the role that Texas played in destroying them and reasonable fans are wary of how Texas is going to handle being a part of a big boy conference of equals.
Hope that you come to Tuscaloosa and have a great time, gonna be an incredible weekend for football.

I wasn't aware the BIG 8 was ever destroyed.
I'm also not aware the BIG XII was ever destroyed.
The Big XII conference
When did these two things happen?

Well that's not how they tell the story in Lincoln, Columbia, Boulder or College Station. Or in Fayetteville with regard to the SWC for that matter.
End of the day what you did in your previous marriage doesn't matter as long as you understand this is a conference of equals. Have a great time and prove those fanbases wrong.

What matters is accuracy instead of mindless horseshite spewed by butthurt never-do-wells.
1. The BIG 8 wasn't destroyed by anybody. It merged and became the BIG XII, with the approval of all the folks in Lincoln, Columbia, and Boulder. That's a fact.
2. The BIG XII was never destroyed either. It still exists. The BIG XII is going to exist after ou/texsa leave while the PAC and ACC dissolve. That's a fact.
3. If "texsa destroyed muh SWC!" what were A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech doing?
