There was nothing whisper-like about that Tennessee/South Carolina game

It was a really exciting year for Georgia.

As it should be. It was impressive. Just bad timing for college football as it rapidly morphs into a hideous & maimed minor league.
Posted on 3/28/23 at 9:47 pm to BevoBucks
Georgia hardly looked minor league. Most sports media seemed to think Georgia was more like an NFL program than a college team.

I meant CFB as a whole is a maimed minor league. It’s lost its soul of loyalty, tradition & school pride. Yet it lacks the competitive intrigue, oversight and athleticism of professional sports. It’s the worst of both worlds mashed together.

One thing I've learned never decide the SEC before the season is played. 1976 UK comes out of nowhere 1980 UGA comes out of nowhere after a 6-5 season 1984 Florida comes out of nowhere 1986 LSU comes out of nowhere 1990 Florida comes out of nowhere 1991 Bama comes out of nowhere 1999 Bama comes out of nowhere 2000 Auburn comes out of nowhere
This^.
Most people who know this sport well had Bama last year. UGA fans already counting a 3peat (which could happen they’re loaded) need to pump the breaks. Teams as recently as 2019 LSU came out of nowhere. Sure 2018 LSU was good but who saw them coming the next year?

Yeah, it’s basically 3 teams, if that many, and a whipping boy for the playoffs now. But I enjoy the regular season though. I’ll always have football as my number 1 spor
Recruiting has gone nuclear. You need multiple top 5 classes and massive depth to win a championship.
But that really is how it’s always been in the 21st century. People are just starting to notice bc the same teams are winning playoff games year in and year out.

Yep, and bowl games don’t mean anything anymore especially when the best players are opting out. Hard to brag about beating a team without their best players.
But I still enjoy regular season then switch to basketball.

Idk.. the last 2 years I wasn’t really expecting Titles. 2023 was when I thought a run would start possibly. But, now?? I think UGAs the best team right now, I just don’t know.. 3 in a row.. just seems too crazy!

I think if you have a good enough coach and culture surrounding your program then bowl games 100% still matter. They are multiple extra practices and reps for new players and young players. If you can have the players buy in even when it’s not the grand prize I truly think it catapults you into the next season.
The problem today is for every 1 program you have that will play hard in the Outback Bowl and the next year catapult into the Sugar Bowl you have 10 programs with a bunch of entitled little shits and 0 team culture that don’t even show up to play. And that’s on the coach and the society we’re in.

It’s also fundamentally a business at the highest levels now. Guys like Richardson opt out to start getting ready to test well and not risk injury or bad film with depleted WR core. Hard to fault him as it increased his stock significantly more than beating Oregon State would have. It does make for some bad games though.

I guess?
9-2-1 in 83, 9-1-1 in 84

Again, a culture thing. Bryce Young and Will Anderson both played the Sugar Bowl. Both are guaranteed higher value in draft than Richardson. The Sugar Bowl was a significant step down from players that won a national title in 2020 and were national runner up in 2021.
They played anyways bc their culture at their school. We have a bunch of entitled pieces of shite from the Mullen years. And guess what, that will cost them in the long run. It’s a fricking loser attitude these coaches and players have adopted and it’s not conducive to success.

I don't think this is a culture thing at all. I think that when the stakes are low it makes no sense to risk it. Young still has opportunity to shut down doubt and the sugar bowl is a major bowl.
Don't blame AR one bit. Nothing to gain

BY & Anderson seem like throwbacks in general. Smoke around these parts is that the Lagway kid just landed approx $10 mil NIL package to come to Gainesville and has suddenly become a little more cautious about his senior year. Hard to blame him if that’s true.

UGA played lights out in the first half but in the second half UGA hardly scored and UT was getting a lot of yards in the second half but couldn't score enough. It was a closer game than people act like it was just because the first half was such an arse whooping.
Same in the LSU-UGA game, UGA totally dominated the first half but Nuss was throwing all over UGA in the second half.

The days of parity are over. It’s not who will win. It’s by how much UGA decides to embarrass teams by. Hate to say it, but this decade has the marks of the Bear’s 1970’s level dominance.
Lol. We lost by 20 to them in BK's first year. Only Mizzou came closer to beating them if I'm not mistaken. I think we'll have much to say about it over the next few years and expect to beat them in the SECCG next year.

OP and this post prove that people can see whatever they want to see in a sporting event.
“At one point, TCU was tied with UGA and was only down 10-7 after a few possessions. It really was a close game.”
