When BK was kicked to the curb and the Governor was on TV they were the laughing stock of CFB. Lane was the clear cut number 1 candidate for any coaching vacancy and they were able to make it happen. Ole Miss AD put Lane in an impossible situation and made him look like the bad guy.

Coaches and players are going to leave regardless if Lane coached the playoffs or not. Ole Miss is.. was in the best situation they've ever been in to have a chance. They have no shot to make a real run now and they all know it.

It takes so much for a team to win the Natty, so there's no guarantee that Lane stacks em up in Baton Rouge but they are going to be a team that contends while he is there for sure. So, you have to give LSU credit for getting that done.

I give them no credit

LSU is attractive because of their insane in-state talent. It’s better than Georgia, especially for WR talent

They can cry about not having “homefield advantage” anymore but LSU stadium is still louder than 90% of CFB stadiums even in a bad day

Brian Kelly left ND because he didn’t think that school could get the talent to win a championship

It recruits itself. The LSU leadership just asked Lane Kiffin and sent him a big salary and promises and were able to grab him.

When was the last time they hired a guy who wasn’t wanted or was undesirable?

And then you go on to list nothing but reasons to give LSU credit.

Has a better career record than the guy you just hired.

He was an interim coach that brought energy and won

Or did LSU actually do a coaching search and merely settled on Orgeron after failing?

Pick one by your own rules: was Coach O desirable or not when he was hired?

Look -I know this sucks for Ole Miss fans and I'm not here to be a dick. But step back and just look at the facts. He has every right ethically and morally and professionally to take a better opportunity just like anybody else. Just like you and me.

It was a HUGE tactical mistake by Ole Miss. Just let him coach until they are eliminated or win a championship. LSU literally was willing to sacrifice the early recruiting period and transfer portal to take the high road and accommodate him/his schedule/Ole Miss. They told him-whatever-do what you need to do-we will wait. All Ole Miss had to do was allow themselves to win what they could -which was to keep a staff intact and compete in the playoffs. Now Ole Miss is the DOUBLE loser. They lose their coaches and sacrifice their chances.

No denying this, Jefferson, Chase, Lamb, Nabors, Thomas, Smith. Probably 75% of the top nfl receivers from last year were from the boot….

They’re desperate for attention. It’s been 13 years and most people forget they’re in the conference still.

This place was laughing at us hysterically when we hired Coach O along with the rest of the nation. LSU did surprisingly get the last laugh with the 2019 season, but he was not wanted or desired.

Les Miles was mildly attractive for what he had done at Okie St., but he wasn't a huge name. Hell, Nick Saban was a virtual unknown to the fans when he was hired. Kelly was considered a very good hire even if a lot of people didn't like him personally. Kiffin is the first time LSU has hired someone that everyone seemed to want.

They did get a natty in 1960. Ole Miss will recover, they’ll grab a hotty toddy offensive guru next few years and come back from this.

Sounds like you're giving LSU credit

And more to the point, we all have to acknowledge that LSU acted decisively and with a razor-sharp focus. And it really seems like the LSU money was on the same page as the overall LSU fanbase...

When we cut Orgeron out, we had to make a move to fix things. It was embarrassing that we hired Orgeron instead of Herman at the time (no matter how it worked out with Burrow), didn't want that again. Then Orgeron did what people feared, he let shite slide and go into disrepair. Needed "a professional" to rebuild the structure.

Hiring Kelly out of left field was "okay, didn't see that coming". Solid resume, professional structure, etc. Didn't excite anyone, other than to say "we stole him from Notre Dame". We gave him a chance, and he was what some folks suspected- solid, but not ready to compete fulltime in the SEC. Unable to get the team up more than 2-3 times a year (the Notre Dame effect). 8-9 wins a year, that's what he would get you at LSU.

So, Florida fired Napier and sent feelers out, it was clear they wanted to upgrade. More importantly, Kiffin signaled he would listen and be interested... at which point LSU knew they had to make a decision. Stick with Kelly and his 8-9 wins, or make a run on Kiffin. Decided to do the latter, and cleaned house to do so. And it worked out. Whether they get the success they want, remains to be seen. But they targeted their guy, fended Florida off, and smothered Ole Miss to land him.
