You're not used to this. It's common when a HC leaves. LSU didn't have 40 scholarship players when BK took over. It was a mess. But at least LSU is a big enough program to recover relatively quickly under the right coach.

A lot of attrition when a HC leaves. It's the way it is.

As soon as I saw he was bringing his entire staff I knew he was screwed.

I hope the DeBoer years cause you nightmares for decades.

Hope you have at least two 4-8 seasons before he gets fired.

That’s my big concern. I think most non Bama fans see it. I personally didn’t think he was a great fit, even though he seems to be a great offensive mind, but I figured he’d retain most of Saban’s defensive staff and our best recruiters for sure. Instead he’s making sure his buddies from Sioux Falls get to stay with him and get a huge raise.

Settle down crybaby. Good gosh, give the coach time to move in at least before you crackup. You sound like a huge vagina right now. Tidesaint did you a favor removing your thread but you insist on letting your inner tard shine

The fact that non-Bama fans are screaming bad hire tells me they are scared.

Kirby Smart is the only hire that would not have garnered any criticism, and that wasn’t going to happen.

My advice is to relax, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show. All things considered - it’s not a bad hire.

Get over yourself. He has not even got his suitcase unpacked yet. No one, absolutely no one knows how this will work out.

You could just cut you losses and move along.

Hey, speaking of losses, were you an Alabama fan during the Mike’s era? Mike Dubose, Mike Price, and Mike Shula? It feels like you weren’t around for that debacle. I am just excited this new guy isn’t named Mike.

Anyway, good luck with your thread.

Yes and I hated both the Price and Shula hires. I hated the price hire because he didn’t have great defenses and he was talking about grooming his son(s) to take over in a few years.
I hate the Shula hire because he looked and sounded like a he was so scared he was pissing down his leg during his press conference. I was a teenager at the time.

FYI this is basically a reposting of a thread that got deleted on the Bama forum. So, my apologies to any Bama fans who’s already read the other thread.

Most Bama fans are much like Democrats in that anything that doesn’t align with approved party narrative is met with a rather unhinged response.

You do realize Alabama’s defensive coordinator retired the day before Saban announced his retirement don’t you? So a new head coach and a new defensive coordinator were a certainty.

Yet you are surprised there is a lot of turnover on the defensive staff?

There was going to be tons of turnover regardless. I got here late, but you seem over emotional and under intelligent. That is a bad combination.

Clinton-Dix on DeBoer hire

I’ll take Bama legend Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix’s opinion of DeBoer over an anonymous hand-wringing, pearl-clutching SecRant internet user, Alabama fan or not. I’m guessing there are plenty more out there like this from alums.

Whole Foods version of the Harsin hire
Whole foods Harsin

In all seriousness. Watching Harsin completely fail to recruit in the SEC was brutal. The culture fit was my biggest concern with him. He also just seemed like a total dick.

DeBoer doesn't seem like an a-hole, so he has that going for him, but he NEEDS some guys that can recruit the Southeast. If he gets the recruiting piece figured out, he can clearly coach.
