I could see Bama getting some spotlight for their use of recruiting services, which we know for a fact they use and have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to. It wouldn't take much to paint any one of these guys as being as shady as the Oregon case.

Does anyone have an update on the BOL thread where the guy says his friend is working day and night on a Cam story and it will all be laid out on a "silver platter" next week?

FWIW, I think Saban (and Miles) are both cleaner than most head coaches, but Candy Edwards and Josh Reed might disagree with the above statement.

Did he say he wasn't working on a story regarding Bama? Seems like that would have come up before yesterday, if so.
I went to the Finebaum website and it show Wentzel being there on that date, but all of the podcast are down.

I mentioned the yesterday about the Finebaum interview but I just heard it from a good friend of mine. The only thing I have heard (not by my own accounts) was the Wetzel was asked on Finebaum on June 28 if they were working on a story about Bama and he said they were not.

I know there have been tons of these kinds of threads since December, but the guy sure does sound adamant about it if this was indeed his post (I'm just copying and pasting from yesterday's thread on here)

I've spent a sh**load of personal time comparing notes and cautiously filtering information multiple times. I've tried to give everyone a heads up on what's coming, I've held info and changed info regarding that letter that started all this because I thought I was doing someone a huge favor and now its that very letter that's going to make me lose credibility? I don't think so. The person who told me about the letter *U got Friday is my smoking gun. He said it was bad and he confirmed it wasn't from the ncaa. What that means I don't know, but there it is.
*U has got info coming out on them daily and you will be hearing something OFFICIAL soon. No message board crap. That's FACT.
You will be seeing a HBO special and it will contain interviews from smoking guns, FACT.
Yahoo au story will be epic, FACT.
I have a friend who is personally working day and night on the CN story. He's on a mission and he's taking it online next week. There's info and it will be presented on a silver platter.
I promised you all you'd get a happy ending and it would be the one you've always hoped for and that hasn't changed...

Agreed.
I don't think Saban cheats except for violating the bump rule, which who gives a shite anyway.
The problem with Alabama would be old timer boosters. Guys that ran with Logan Young and never learned.

I could see this as well. I don't think that this story is about Bama though. Saban has had some pretty stellar recruiting classes since his arrival at Alabama. I think all major colleges bend the rules in some form or fashion, some of them just cover it up well.

It cant be Bama there is a guy that works for Auburn now, that used to work for Saban at LSU ,he said Sabans first words to his staff upon arriving at LSU were if you cheat ,you get fired.
Why does this keep coming up? I'm not saying that Saban cheats or anything but jeebus!

Essentially, he's been arbitrarily selecting which updates in ATPB are authentic and which ones are false.

Who said he does? What does Saban, or any HC for that matter, have to do with a school that cheats?
A lot of times it is boosters and others that cause the hammer to fall...you should know that.

somehow people have missed this. most BCS schools have been spending big money on recruiting services in recent years - over $100K annually split between the different services
There is an impression by some that a guy like Lyles getting paid instead of a service makes it dirtier... and it has that potential IMO... but the whole recruiting service industry has become such a big deal that it would be possible for a journalist with ambition or desire to badmouth a particular school if they so desired.
I haven't seen anything in particular about bama tho - altho I'd be surprised if they didn't have certain street agents they have reached out to or used over the years. Not because they are dirty but because NCAA limits on coach/recruit contact make that type of reaching out a recruiting advantage

Saban has stated at REC meetings and Crimson Caravan things to stay the frick away. Not in so many words, but "we don't need your help" has been expressed.
