Nobody wants to see that, I would rather see Bama take on a one-loss Boise team than an undefeated Houston. Otherwise it will be like the Florida/Cincinnati matchup during Tebow's senior year.

Case "Mr. Touchdown" Keenum would be lucky to throw one TD vs. Bama's D.

I won't be making that trip. Has Utah 2.0 written all over it.

I'd see a repeat of the UGA-Hawaii Sugar Bowl.

Totally agree - minus the Haka dance of course!

This time it would Keenem's nightmare instead of Colt Brennan's!

How much leeway does the Sugar Bowl have in choosing its non-SEC competitor?

I mean, if Alabama doesn't go to the BCSNC, this game is going to happen. Personally I think we'd kill them, it's nothing like UTAH IMO. For starters, we're much better now than we were in 2008. Houston has zero defense. And, it's not like we would've just lost the SECCG in the 4th quarter and suspended fatarse Andre Smith for the Sugar Bowl. Alabama-Houston would be more like UGA-Hawaii. But yea, crappy game. Sadly we get a lot of crappy games in the BCS the way it's set up with auto-bids and what not. I wish they'd just let the non-AQ team play the Big East champ, then we'd only get one shite matchup.

None this year, they get last pick of at-large teams.

I don't see Houston losing in the regular season, and by being a conference champ and ranking in the top 16 they have to get a BCS nod, correct?

I think the Sugar gets the second pick of the at large teams, so I guess they could pick someone else other than UH, but I'm not sure.

The thing is, Houston/Bama would be a lot better matchup (from the SEC perspective) than if Boise had stayed undefeated. If Boise is in the BCS, Houston goes to the Liberty Bowl against MSU, Vandy or Tennessee. That would be slaughter of epic proportions.

I can deal with a lot of things but watching a team that lost to Texas Tech at home play for the national championship while we play Houston in the Sugar Bowl isn't one of them Even Oregon I'd be okay with but not Oklahoma.

Basketball season will help.

They would probably go with Houston for the income. There would be a lot more Houston fans in NO than BS fans I would bet.

If Bama does goes to the Sugar Bowl. I hope they don't play one of these scrub teams that gets there playing no one. Want a match-up against a program where there's something to gain with a win

ROLL TIDE !!!!!!

The highest ranked non-AQ school (who is a conference champion, ie no Boise St this year) is given an at-large berth as long as they are in the top 12. Only one is guaranteed a spot and this year that will be Houston, assuming they win out. You're right on the top 16 thing, but if they're ranked 13-16 they're only given a spot if they're ahead of the conference champion from a BCS conference (Big East).

This is the unfortunate byproduct of the SEC being represented in the BCS title game for 5 years in a row. When an SEC team gets picked for the title game, this means the Sugar gets first pick and last pick. They will always go with the #2 SEC team for their first pick, and usually all that is left is some shitty mid major for last pick. Other than Ohio St v. Arkansas, the last several Sugar Bowls have sucked: See UGA v. Hawaii, Bama v. Utah, and Florida v. Cincinnati.

I agree with you Monticello, I didn't realize that about the last pick.

I think even the OK/OK St loser would be a better matchup to watch than Houston.
