A few highlights:
• “valuations went up 46% over last year”
• “one reason valuations have surged is that the deeper pool of potential champions—created by the loosening of rules”
• Most valuable teams: #1 Texas, $2.2bn; #2 A&M, $1.6bn
• LSU, UGA and Bama in the top 10, worth $1.4–1.5bn

The fact that we have college football teams being valued in the billions of dollars tells me a couple of things:
1. Our economy is strong
2. Collegiate athletics are effectively dead

This entire concept is why college football is going to be capitalized in totality and completely ruined. I've said it before and will say it again: it is all Oklahoma and Georgia's fault. The SCOTUS ruling that gave the schools control over television broadcasting rights was poison fruit.

Did the valuations change that drastically or did the metrics used to calculate this change?

Value doesn't mean they have in cash. A business can be worth billions but only have a few million in the bank. Value isn't realized until its sold. Y'all plan on selling The university anytime soon?

It’s stong for the ultra wealthy. Most of us are just surviving. Some of us a little more comfortably than others. But I’ve seen it a lot worse

So you would rather the NCAA keep all that TV money and give a chunk of Bama's TV money to the Slippery Rocks of the world?

Yeah, I can understand Texas but I'm surprised at A&M being #2. No offense Aggies.
Is the valuation based on # of select boosters willing to spend their fun money?? Because I would think OSU, Notre Dame, USC, and several of the big SEC brands would have more nationally recognized & thus, more valuable brands.

Utah pretty much just sold their football team with that PE deal.

Do not confuse extreme inflation and the prices of everything going up with a strong economy please. Not the same thing.

But players only deserve free room and board and free classes.

Well A&M beats LSU a lot. I guess beating LSU isn't much of an accomplishment these days.
