I love that this thread is still going and that you’re unraveling the way you are. I’m so glad that our hand sign has become so iconic that most teams would rather do it upside down than practice their own traditions. And the vitriol that has followed after a big 12 decision that had literally no say from Texas has really put social media in a tailspin.

I’ve been catching some of the obscure 70s and 80s games on the LHN lately. The horns down was a universal hand sign of everyone in the SWC.

OU should’ve bounced when Nebraska, Mizzou, Colorado and A&M did. The minute they leave that conference is the minute the conference dies.
If Texas has to join a new conference, they will learn how far they’ve fallen, because they won’t have near the power they’ve enjoyed over the Big XII.
The only thing allowing them to have this silly an amount of power in a league is that the Big XII is mostly a bunch of small schools like Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Iowa State and TCU that need Texas’ money and their national brand (along with OU’s) to keep them in P5 status.
Mizzou and Colorado got out while the getting was good. Texas Tech and TCU might not get so lucky.

"Serious question: if an OU player scores a touchdown against Texas, and then celebrates with Horns Down, is that going to be a 15-yard penalty? Heck, why stop with just a flag for Horns Down? It only seems appropriate that the Big 12 start ejecting players and fans for making Texas’ players feel unsafe."
