The big 12 screwed up simply by the words they used. What they should have said was, "Any gesture to an opposing team used in a taunting fashion will be flagged, for example the 'horns down" gesture...."

Words matter and most folks don't know how to use them effectively.

It seems as if Alabama celebrated a 7th place finish as a “banner year”. I can only imagine what the reaction would be if you were crowned the No. 1 athletic department in the entire country.

We would not care, football, football, football, tops in that sport. It is good that Texas does not focus on football, they suck at it. The entire State of Texas has only won 1 NC in Div-1 football in half a century.

ESPN didn't give those schools their own TV network as an attempt to circumvent NCAA rules regarding high school sports.
You're right. They didn't do it for that reason. They did it because we're the wealthiest brand in college sports.

I'm sorry A&M has never and will be relevant enough to receive the same.

Well that article just called it a "banner year" so it looks like y'all care quite a bit. In fact, here is your school doing a victory lap finishing 6 places behind us. Doesn't seem like "football, football, football" there does it?

You say this like it is the University of Texas's fault. We're the school that actually did win a championship. Take it up with the other schools in the state that have never and probably will never win a championship

The wealthiest brands in college sports, by far, are the SEC and the Big 10.

That might be true. Though they are backed by the most powerful media propaganda campaign in college ball. You would think A&M was a annual playoff participant with the way they are compared to the Longhorns in the media these days.

Notice how you had to use conferences instead of schools to fit your narrative

Sorry we're richer than you squirt. Sorry you couldn't get in. Hopefully doing our hand sign instead of your own helps with your tears

The vice president of the network disagrees with you.

From June 2011:

quote:

Anxiety skyrocketed in early June after Austin’s 104.9 FM interviewed Dave Brown, the Longhorn Network’s vice president for programming and acquisitions. His responses seemed to confirm the worst fears that the Longhorn Network would zoom from zero to overkill with 18 high school games on Thursdays and Saturdays. Brown specifically mentioned star Aledo running back Johnathan Gray, who has orally committed to Texas but not signed a letter of intent.

“I know people are going to want to see Johnathan Gray. I can’t wait to see Johnathan Gray,” Brown told the station. “Feedback we got from our audience is they just want to see Johnathan Gray run — whether it’s 45-0 or not, they want to see more Johnathan Gray.”

Brown suggested another Texas commitment, Arizona QB Connor Brewer, could get the spotlight treatment.

Of course it matters that an athletic program have overall athletic success. But no one at Alabama is trying to use it to distract from having a disappointing football program.

Has your team just won its 6th NC in the last 12 years in football? That fact alone makes it a banner year.

Well, one NC in football since 1970, and 4 overall is sort of embarrassing for a school that has such a "top notch athletic program"

Just poking at you, congrats on beating Stanford for the award

What you seem to be missing is that little Ole Alabama is only 6 places behind you, Mighty Texas.

A state that has approx 1/6 your population. By the way you talk, BAMA shouldn't even be close to you. But here is little Alabama. A state that two teams to win national title in the the last 15 years.

I blame OU. Easily the best program in that conference, but they bend the knee and put up with all this dumb shite for money I guess

I tell you what, go to any UTexas fan and ask them if they would want to win the Directors Cup or a NC in football.
