Would your coach have been aware enough to attempt to call a timeout on the fake punt?

No for Alabama.

Saban thinks timeouts are for pussies.

He would not only not called a timeout, but would have complained afterwards about players needing to be ready at all times.

Hard to believe that just two years ago the Rant was convinced that Dan Mullen was going to take over the SEC East because Kirby was a bad coach

That had to be radioed down. Incredible call.

I don’t see many people catching that

Kirby said it was a "gut reaction" due to the OSU formation.

Kirby's gut reaction was an analyst up in the booth screaming at him to call time out. You can tell he is listening to somebody and making a split second decision. That analyst deserves a massive bonus. He saved the season

It was a hell of a coaching decision at the right moment. Ohio St picks up those two yards, they win.

Reminds me of the 2013 BCS NC. I screamed at the TV that Florida St was about to fake the punt and then it happened. I sincerely believe if Auburn stopped that play, we close out the game with a win.

No. Drinkwitz watched that over and over a couple of times, finally his wife had to explain to him why Kirby did that.

That was a huge observation. I'm not sure if it was Kirby or the coaches in the booth, but somebody earned their money with that. Might have been a bigger timeout than before the missed FG. (It's hard to definitively say if it affected the kicker)

We had another game that a team was going to fake a kick. (Not sure if it was a punt or FG) and they spotted it and called a TO. They are very good at reading formations and spotting anomalies.

Well there is no evidence at all to support the OSU claim that UGA had cameras during their practices.

But if they did have cameras present, that is the exact type of formation that would’ve been identified and flagged.

If Ufa did, they didn't get much info from them based on my observations of about 58 mins of the game.....

So, since we did catch that we had to have cameras? Is that your stance? How about all the routes that ran open by OSU? Does that prove the cameras were really placed by OSU?

Crap dude. Really?

OSU didn’t make an accusation, some self styled internet reporter did..

The UGA defense is designed to take away easy underneath stuff and has never shown they can handle an elite vertical passing attack unless they can get to the QB.

Ohio State was a horrible matchup for UGA for the same reason Bama circa 2022 SECCG was: an elite QB paired with elite WRs.

I don’t think UM or TCU can match up with UGA because they don’t have either and the UGA defense is designed to stop what they do best.

think my coach would have been capable of counting to 12, saving the TO, and letting OSU get penalized for too many men on the field.

Kirby the real genius in cfb right now.

Not Saban.
Not Joey.
Not Bobby.
Not the Saudi Prince.
Not Riley.

But mf'kn Kirby runs this mf.

Having cameras doesn’t help you cover the receivers unless you have the signals like Clemson used to steal until LSU figured out what they were up to and scorched them in the playoffs.

Either your DBs can hold in man coverage or they can’t and Kirby isn’t going to scrap his entire defensive mentality in a few bowl practices anyways.

Having a camera for a practice would show trick plays and specialty formations which wouldn’t be on film.

Ohio State hadn’t run that fake all year so the only reason I found Kirby identifying it odd was that there was no film to suggest that it would be a fake that would justify a timeout.

I’m not saying UGA did anything wrong, there was zero evidence presented by that reporter to suggest they had. It was just a very strange timeout call.
