Better question would be if losing to New Nebraska would end Lane's time in Oxford.

I'm not buying a Bently, but it ain't cause I'm too smart to do so. You aren't pulling an Aggy simply because you are too impoverished to do so.

No, they scapegoated the OC to protect a terrible coach, it’s the Okie way.

Agree. I dont think it would end Lane’s tenure but would hopefully end Weis’ (the OC). The offense is a mess

I fully expect OU to right all of their offensive-side wrongs this weekend. WAOM is like gravity and the passing of time. It cannot be denied nor ignored.

Unless we somehow have gotten a better group for the OL and still playing without our receivers, it's going to be just more of the same. Hopefully the new play caller will understand we need faster developing run plays and roll outs and quick hits when passing. If so that'll help but I don't see this ship being righted this season.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Oklahoma took Ole Miss to the woodshed?

I think OU is going to purposedly tank and hope they win the lottery to get the 1st pick next year. It's not a horrible plan.

No. At this point I think OU has resigned themselves to accepting it will take a bit to adjust to the SEC. Venables is safe this year no matter what.

Nothing to do with adjusting to the SEC. If we had any of the offenses we've had in the past 15 years we'd probably be undefeated right now with the improvements on the defensive side. This current team would probably finish middle of the pack in this years Big 12

I don’t see wins over LSU or Bama. OU will be coming off a bye week and I would not be surprised if there are a few opt outs to further deplete the squad.

He might survive this year but all I know is he better get the OC hire right this time or next year will be his last. Next year will make 3 different OCs in 3 years. His OC hire to replace Lebby lasted all of 7 games, that's pathetic.

Yeah it'd be funny but they're averaging 11.75 offensive points per game in conference play and Ole Miss has a good defense. OU doesn't have the firepower to take anyone in this conference to the woodshed.

If you had one of your offenses from the past 15 years, your defense wouldn't be as good this year.

When you have a really good defense, they crush the offense in practice, therefore the offense doesn't have the confidence to score points when they need it the most.

When you have a really good offense, they crush the defense in practice, therefore the defense doesn't have the confidence to get a stop when they need it the most.

Confidence & Momentum.. especially at the age of these college kids.. plays a huge role in the outcome of every game. It would be an interesting case study.

Doesn't matter. The only wins I see left on Oklahoma's schedule are Maine and "maybe" Mizzou, but only if they ball out and Mizzou doesn't have their QB and RB back by then. I'll be surprised if they're bowl eligible.

So what happens in practice if a team is good on both offense and defense?

Or really bad on both offense and defense.

They very well might not win, but I think they end up upsetting someone. Those are 2 games they get late, that offensive line should start to click (at least a little). They should get some of their WRs back by then.

Depending on how the offense looks with the interm OC, that defense is good enough to keep them in games if the offense can put together a few drives.

Maybe the Blackshirts with the Lawrence Phillips wishbone? Maybe one of the Miami teams? Texas was pretty good in 2005, but USC still scored 38 on us.

LSU and Alabama had a pretty good defense in 2019 and 2020, but they still gave up a shite ton of points to each other.

It's pretty rare to have juggernauts on both sides of the ball.

I would have considered the woodshed beating Texas the beginning of the end. That would be 2 of them texas has laid on him.

And no, we arent pulling the upset. We just cant put points on the board.
