2014 UGA: they converted a 4th and 3 to put the game away. Should have been a 4th and about 7, but Chubb got an extremely generous ball spot. Probably wouldn't have won anyway but that was atrocious.
Obviously very memorable for you since you got the running back incorrect...
And I've looked for that call everywhere but couldn't find it (you very well could be right). All I remember was being pissed off to no end because we got called for a holding penalty (right call) and it cost us 15 seconds on the play clock.
Worst call by far that I can remember was that stupid field judge Michael Williams calling targeting on Ramik Wilson. The NCAA was so stupid for having overturned targeting calls still be a 15 yard penalty. I don't know if I'll ever get over how stupid that rule was. I think it happened to Bama or A&M early in the season and I thought the NCAA should have changed the rule that next week. Complete embarrassment of a rule.

He was juggling the ball.. correct call then, still the correct call now...
Oh, he juggled it all right. The ball hit his hands and bounced in the air ONCE. At that point, he was about 2 yards from the back line. After one bounce, he secured it with both hands and by the time his leg hit the back line, he'd not only secured it he'd already pulled it to his chest.
It is all right there in the video. You're actually the first person I've ever heard say it wasn't a bad call. Hell, Sports Illustrated even did a story about it and another call that went Penn State's way that season. They drew a field that had the area of Gothard's catch cut out and grafted to the sideline where a Penn State player was credited with a catch when he was out of bounds.

As an LSU fan, we were clearly offside vs. A&M last year. It was a bad non-call.
Also, Penn Wagers is an atrocious ref.
For LSU, I would love to see an Auburn fan defend the "leverage" call on your missed extra point in the 10-9 game. That was awful.

The absolute most crooked ref to ever set foot on a field, Allama Matthews called this no-catch a touchdown.
In the post-game interview even Steve Spurrier shook his head over this one.
Jabar Gaffney no-catch TD

i wonder the nature of this thread if the OP had said "Worst ref calls that went against your team in non SEC play"

Not to mention the AU placekicker MISSED the 're-kick!'

Alabama game last year. Henry's goal line fumble that was overturned into a "touchdown". Then we lost by 5.

Thanks for that. The horse collar call was a bad one too.
However, having seen the absolutely ridiculous calls from the rest of y'all, those two seem miniscule in comparison. Jesus, some of those are pretty outrageous.

What's to defend? Your player vaulted over the line and landed on other players. That was a penalty then and it's a penalty now.

For LSU
two games at Auburn - no pass interference and the extra point phantom call
two games against Bama - the non Patrick Peterson interception and the pushing penalty on LSU olineman last year that was now put in the rule book for this year
Coincidence it happened against these two schools!
I read something 2-3 years ago that Auburn had warned the officials before the game to look for it. Also before the season they passed a rule regarding the penalty. You can complain about 2006 and I understand your complaint, but you're being a pussy about this one. I've seen a flag get thrown regarding this penalty several times.

Just defended it. It was added to the rule book that offseason. It's a smart rule.
ETA: FTR the rule has nothing to do with leverage. The guy launched himself in the air and landed on the snapper. That's what the call was.

His butt hit first AFTER the juggle.. NYT (Bama's favorite publication disagrees... I watched the game, most of you have only heard about if from the Bama Nation..
Film Called 'Inconclusive'
After reviewing 16-millimeter films of the play yesterday, Hyland said there was no question that Gothard had bobbled the ball, but that the film was ''inconclusive'' on whether the Alabama tight end had regained possession before rolling out of the end zone. ''You don't get a clear definition of the ball,'' said Hyland.
NYT - LINK>>>
Tell a lie enough and everone believes it..
Plus there was a missed call that should have been called on the play..
Hyland, however, admitted that his officials blew a significant call, but not the one that concerned Alabama fans the most.
Hyland said the pass to Gothard, should have been called back, whether it was complete or not, because Thornton Chandler, the other Crimson Tide tight end in the double- wingback formation, was moving before the snap of the ball. Chandler's foul went undetected by officials, who did call Penn State's defensive left end, Steve Sefter, offside.
NOTE TO TAMU: I misunderstood the horse collar rule.

Guess you never even watched the play and don't know how the spotting of the ball works. You're not alone. If anything, it was spotted short.

Watching the game on TV, I thought that Henry had scored before he fumbled, but I also thought there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call.
