It’s amazing how far Scott has fallen since leaving MSU. He was regarded as one of the best AD’s in the country while in Starkville.

Cohen, and it’s not even close.

The Aggy AD ran off two of their most successful coaches ever (Buzz and Schloss). Sounds like a real jerk to work for.
I have heard the same. Schloss told the loser that he'd feel more at home if they could get together for some group sex, but that loser AD refused, so he went somewhere where the AD would prove his dedication, sexually.

It still amazes me that Auburn hired him. I can’t think of one single thing he did at state that made me say “wow this guy is a good AD”

How this thread has made it to page two without an Arkansas mention is beyond me...

Hiring Jay Johnson and Mulkey eliminates him from any conversation of being "the worst".
He certainly wouldn't be listed amongst "the best".
inB4 emotional fricks start yelling about Kelly's contract.
and to be fair....as much as we like to shite on him for the BK and Jimbo hires, they were considered A+ hires at the time and coups to be able to steal a standing head coach from another big time program
then he also hired Sark and Chris Peterson at Washington
he may suck at contracts but he usually has the fricking balls to go after big time head coaches at least.

how did that even go down? Is OSU wholistic athletic department better or on par with ATM? I would assume so, which Bjork didnt seem to crush it at ATM so was odd he was hired away to OSU. I am assuming AD hiring is a lot more political and backchannel with less media scrutiny so maybe Bjork had a connection but on merit didn't seem like he deserved to be coveted by OSU

Joe C.
His goody-two-shoes cuckness set OU back by a decade entering the SEC.

It’s John Cohen by a mile.
John Cohen still has Hugh Freeze as his football coach, and he hired the freakin’ son of his former basketball coach. My God.
You didn’t see Bama hiring Saban’s daughter as the new football coach. Haha

Hunter Yurachek
He isn’t the reason we got Cal. That was all Tyson.
Hunter has yet to hire a successful coach outside of Musselman while at Arkansas
He also fought against NIL for the longest time putting us way behind. He also failed to get the naming rights done for the football stadium losing $10M a year minimum from not having naming rights for the football stadium. He is awful at raising money

He can't raise money because he doesn't know how to talk to the average fan.

I won't even put the contracts all on him. The boosters (the people putting up the money) tell him who they want. Scott tells them what the price tag will be, and he makes it happen. If you want to fault the buyouts, blame Jimmy Sexton and people like him. The market is what it is. If you want a big name coach from a big name school, that comes with a premium, a 9 figure deal with a large buyout. That's just the price of doing business today. Your only alternative is taking a shot on a young unproven coordinator or G5 coach who's cheaper and pray you found the diamond in the rough. But big schools with high expectations are typically not willing to take that change

I’ve got two nephews who just graduated from OSU and they said the students didn’t care for Bjork. So you’re probably right it was more of a political type of hiring.

One of the AD's biggest jobs is convincing the boosters with money how and when to spend it on the athletic department, so yeah it's a very political business. That's why Woodward has had the career he's had. He started his career in business/politics/lobbying. So once he got into athletics admin, he new exactly how to pull strings, talk to people, and make money appear that he wanted.

The only sport that will get an AD fired is football. If I was asked to rank that would be 80% of the ranking. The rest is minor.
