It’s as simple as Rees got all the blame for early Irish struggles under freeman
He was likely looking for an escape hatch and bama provided it
It gets him in sec at a high profile job that will do more to build his resume than where he was at
He doesn’t have to be a genius calling plays because he will have more talent than anyone else
He just needs to not f it up
It is a lot of pressure with championship or busy mentality and he’s about to find out about plenty of arse chewings saban about to give him being that young

I have no idea on the OP line of this but look at the ND situation. Last year Freeman inherited the ND job late in the recruiting cycle and did not have much time to build a staff. Things did not go well this past season offensively and now he has the time to build something to his liking. I suspect the Freeman-Rees chemistry has fizzled out.
